SMG: poor job placement?>

Business week ranked BU’s SMG 37th in the country… giving them a C in job placement… i was wondering if anyone knew anything about this and whether it will be hard to get a job, especially since i would be paying so much for tuition here not sure if its worth it… thanks

I really don't know what 'job placement' actually means. Is it the amount of jobs? Or the quality? I'm an SMG student and I had no troubles finding an internship through the school, which will lead to a full time position when I graduate. but the school really stresses that the career office shouldn't be your only line of offense when looking for jobs. As far as I know, the number of people that get jobs isn't significantly different from other school. But the economy is crap now anyways so you'll have a tough time no matter where you go.

If you take advantage of the FCC(SMG's career center) you will make great oppurtunities for yourself. I am interested in grad school, so I don't utilize the resources...but I feel that SMG is well above avg...definitely in comparison to other schools at BU

BU would be my top choice thus far if it were not for the things I've heard about FCC. I've seen many mixed reviews. Some student comments say they love the career center and it's very helpful while others say that it is not helpful at all in attracting big companies and the only offers are back office jobs. If any other current students know anything about this, I'd be very interested in hearing.
