It's May 1st over here! Who's decided that they're going to Smith? :)

I am! I sent in my deposit and housing form almost two weeks ago. Are you on the Smith 2015 Facebook page?

I am! Now I’m anxiously awaiting my welcome packet.

I am! I can’t wait!

Awesome! I sent in my deposit early, too, and I’ve got my housing forms in.

I’m not on the Smith facebook page because I can’t get access to facebook here (-_-') and when I try using a proxy it says my account is temporarily unavailable.

Aaaaaanyways, what did you guys choose as first choice for housing/what are you going to choose? SO EXCITED!

Ideally I would live in Tyler, but anywhere on Green Street, Lower Elm, or perhaps Center Campus would be fine.

I’d love to live in Park House, but Center Campus or anywhere on Elm is fine with me.

Haha, Elm Street and Center Campus are popular (well, among us four, anyways). I chose Elm Street and Green Street as my top choices. All of the Lower Elm Street houses sound awesome to me~

And just out of curiosity, if you’ve received your welcome packet, are you filling it out in pencil or pen?

I will be so upset if I’m not on Green Street! I saw a lot of people on the facebook page wanted to quad.

I would love love love to like in Morris but one of my friends lives there and I want to branch out a little bit, but we’ll see.

And I filled my welcome packet out in pen.

Haven’t gotten my welcome packet yet but I’m thinking either Green Street or Lower Elm. Then if that doesn’t work, Center Campus or Upper Elm. Quad is not even an option for me :P

Ahhh, I filled out some of my welcome packet in pencil, and then looked at my pens and sighed. Now I feel like I should fill out the rest in pen…

Haha, I don’t want to live on the Quad, either. If the stereotypes are true, and knowing that I get headaches easily from noise, I would not be happy there. Maybe we’ll be housemates, spiritinthenight (well, you and everyone else here who chose Elm Street/Green Street/Center Campus)! :)

Quad is at the bottom of my list. I would not be able to handle it! I’m filling out the packet in pen.

Does anyone know if the list of first-year seminars is online? It wasn’t on the catalogue when I last checked.

I hate to creep on your thread, but I don’t remember the FYS list coming online until late June or sometime in July last year.

Also, Green Street is the best place to live. Just saying. :)

Yeah, nooo Quad for me, either.

I received my welcome packet in the mail today! This may be the only time I’ll actually have fun filling out paperwork. And I’ll be filling it out in pen. It feels more professional that way. :)

Ok, I know you are not going to be able to listen to this (when I was dreaming about housing, I wouldn’t have listened either), but try not to get too attached to one particular house or area, just in case. I really wanted Haven/Wesley, more than anything, so I put Center Campus as my first choice, and of course I got Cutter. I was really upset and made a solemn vow to move out at the earliest opportunity. Of course, Cutter then turned out to be the best house ever, I made all my good Smith friends there, and I not only stayed but I elected to stay a second year and had a senior house council position. Sometimes wonderful experiences will come to you in unexpected wrapping, so just try to be open to that.

I’m just attached to Park because I stayed there during Open Campus and people were amazing, but I think I could live in any house in Center Campus or on Elm Street. I’m trying to not get too attached in case I get a different house.

Thankfully I don’t feel like I know any of the houses well enough to get attached to any ones in particular. I stayed in Tyler during Open Campus and thought it seemed like a great place to live, and it’s likely I’ll be putting Green Street as my first choice, but I won’t be crushed if I don’t get it. I also found out the first house my grandmother lived in when she was at Smith, Gillett, is in Lower Elm, so I might put that as my second choice (not just for that reason, I actually think I’d like it) but again, it’s nbd if I don’t get it.

Does anyone have any idea of how likely it is that someone will be placed in an area of campus that wasn’t one of her first three choices? (It’s nice to not have to type “his or her”.)

TF: remote.
