@sallymoe230 congratulations!! Were you notified by email or snail mail? Has your portal been updated?
What about international applicants? How do you think they will be notified?
Do you think international students would get likely letters or early admits?
I’m really nervous since I’m asking for a lot of aid but I really really wanna get in
:((
@pacificnwgal notified of an update on my portal through email! hope that helps!
Also got notified of STRIDE via an update on my portal. I’m now seriously considering Smith along with my other top choices! It’s all so exciting.
General stats that aren’t too specific about me.
Accepted, applied RD, notified early in early March, notified of STRIDE mid-March, Biological Sciences.
SAT: 1550
ACT: Didn’t take.
SAT II (submitted all of them, even the less stellar ones): Math II (800), Molecular Biology (780), Physics (650), French (580).
AP Tests: Biology (5), Euro (5), Art History (5), Lang (5), Calc BC (5), Physics C Mech (4), Chem/US Gov/Lit (planned).
Weighted GPA: 4.39 at application, 4.41 midyear
Unweighted GPA: 3.97 at application, 3.98 midyear
Southeast Asian/White, CA, applied for financial aid.
A lot of different academic-competition related extracurriculars and leadership positions.
I think my essays were strong in terms of showing my personality, and my interview went really well! No idea about my letter of recommendations.
Some weaknesses would probably be lack of internship/job experience, but other than that I’m pretty confident in my application. I have no idea whether they cared at all I included my not-so-good SAT II’s, but I submitted them hoping it showed them I’m not afraid of displaying my strengths as well as weaknesses, and that I don’t care for the college-app culture of anything sub-750ish is “not good enough”. Or maybe it’s not that deep and they didn’t care at all and it counted against me lol.
Currently waiting on Brown and UC Berekely, and have been accepted to and am considering UC Davis and Wellesley.
@CalmCanaries thats so awesome congrats! are u going to go to discovery weekend??? i’d looove to meet u
@sallymoe230 Same! I don’t know if I’ll stay for the third day of discovery weekend but definitely the Open Campus on the 8th and 9th! Currently trying to post more on college confidential right now so I become a junior member and can PM people, so I can PM people my instagram. I’m trying to meet people also considering Smith!
Wait does anyone know the exact time in EST the decisions are released ?
Letters getting mailed on friday!!
@Kittywitty I think it’s 5:00 pm EST, as that’s when financial aid information becomes available.
I’m thinking of making a group chat or instagram or something for people admitted to Smith who are still just considering and haven’t committed like ED’ers. Would people be interested in something like that? I know I’d just like people to talk to who are in a similar position to me, as my top two choices right now are between Wellesley and Smith.
I am a little confused…I know some people were accepted early through RD–but for those of us who haven’t heard, when will admissions decisions be released? Will I hear through a letter or on my applicant portal? Thank you!
@catsRkool the rest of us will hear from them tomorrow (March 22nd) evening.
You will have the decision released on your portal.
Good luck!!
Both. It will be on the portal. It seems like they always release at 5:00 PM US EDT so check at that time. They will also mail you a letter. I recall my daughter received her ED letter on Saturday or Monday. They also usually post something on their Twitter account when the portal is updated. Good luck!
Did everyone get the email about financial aid access?
@lucyg19 yep
@lucyg19 When did that come out?
I got it on 3/20. Did you?
@lucyg19 I did! Just saw it now
I’m not expecting to get in as my interview did not go well
@fairway1 i’ve heard that interviews can only help, never hurt. the fact that you did an interview demonstrates interest, and they know some ppl don’t interview well. best of luck to you!!
