We will be attending the Discovery Weekend. Are parents going? Where do you stay?
The info specifically mentioned parents, saying there were parent-focused activities, and that parents are included at the lunches-I’m excited to go with my DD! parents need to book a hotel, there are lots in the area.
Hey there! Just curious, when is the weekend? I can’t find it on my portal (but I’m also mildly technologically inept)
April 12-14.
There are some decent hotels in Northampton and nearby towns. You can also book other places through Airbnb- they usually have better prices. My D and I went last year and it was really informative and helpful. I think it helped carry her through the end of the year doldrums. She was so done with high school by February lol.
I am attending the Discovery Weekend and Mount Holyoke’s program. There’s like a one night gap between the two programs that I’ll need to stay in a hotel room alone. Please message if you’re in the same boat. I’d rather not stay in a strange place alone.
I am staying at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Northampton. I am flying in on Wed via Boston, staying with friends then driving to Smith on Thursday morning. Staying one night.
@starrydog - Mount Holyoke has an on campus hotel- Willits-Hallowell 413-538-2217 you will have to eat on campus or across the street there are a few restaurants. It is safe and will also give you additional time on campus.
I am a parent and attended both the Smith and Moho events last year, since DD was still in the decision-making phase. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Hadley-Amerst and rented a car. There were lots of parents at both, and getting a little more orientation to the area made me feel a lot better about sending DD off to school (we are from Colorado, so not close by).
