Smith class of 2014

Smith hopeful here! =)

I’m actually visiting tomorrow. The interview is getting me a tad nervous, though it’s my third, so I should do fine. I’m so excited… hopefully it isn’t too cold!

Don’t be nervous, the interviews at Smith are really, really relaxed and fairly informal. If you’re on your third interview I doubt they will ask you anything you haven’t heard before, and having the benefit of practice is a huge plus.

I hope the weather is good for your visit, dress warm because the wind coming off of Paradise pond in the winter can be wicked cold.

I am now a proud member of the Smith College class of 2014!

I’ll be applying :D

nightpwnsj00 - I’m interviewing tomorrow too! I’m at 11. Maybe I’ll see you.

@collegesgirl the only people who get notified early are the people who apply early decision. Regular decision candidates get notified in the spring, whenever the notification date is (sometime in April, I think, maybe late march?)

Starcrossed, congratulations! As a mom of a first year, I can tell you that you are in for a challenging, nurturing, gratifying experience! May you be as happy at Smith as my daughter is!

Smith will let regular decision folks know if they’re accepted by April 1 at the latest, but usually it’s a few days before that in March. You’ll get an email much closer to the decision time that will tell you how to find out online if you’ve been accepted.

congrats guys!!! I’m so excited for all of you and hope that I’ll be at Smith w/ you all next yr (I’m applying RD).

so now – it’s time to wait…

Today was awesome! =) My interview went well, and Smith was beyond amazing. My mom was pretty excited about it too, which is good. Hopefully all goes well come late March!

I just got into SMITH! I applied ED…and about the all women’s thing. It was kind of a despite…but i can look past that! YAY, go SMITH!

Alexadj92, congratulations on your acceptance! I don’t think you will be sorry for your “despite.” As a mom of a first-year, I’m on the Facebook Smith group, and I keep being impressed how Smith alums, time after time after time, recount how being at Smith was the best four years of their lives and how much they miss it! Their comments, along with my daughter’s experiences, make me wish I’d attended Smith. There is something really, really special about the bonding that happens at women’s colleges that doesn’t take place at the same depth in any other setting. As S&P said in another post, welcome to the sisterhood!

To those of you who were accepted to Smith College as an Early Decision candidate, first of all congratulations. I was wondering if you guys don’t mind, what your GPA’s were and SAT scores…I’m planning to apply to Smith regular decision but I was wondering how competitive the pool is for Early Decision.

SAT scores are not weighed heavily by Smith admissions at all, so knowing those won’t give you a good metric for comparison. Better you should ask for GPA and what kinds of classes they took in high school, that’s what the ad com will be looking at.

admitted~~

Congrats, ED acceptees! I hope I can share in your excitement when RD decisions are released!

Thank you Carolyn B, I cannot wait until next fall!

@cheejch- I did not send in my SATs scores, but if you got an 1800 or higher, I would recommend sending them in. I got a 1750 and opted out of sending them.
Also, I have a lot of extra curricular activities and involved in many clubs and sports teams. I also believe my interview helped me out a lot because my GPA, 3.7 is a little low.

Congrats to all ED acceptances! I’m an RDer, but Smith is my current first choice, so I hope to meet you all next year!

@cheejch – I didn’t submit my SAT I score, but I did submit two Subject Tests. On the US History I got 780 and I had a 630 on English Lit. My GPA is, weighted, a 4.03 and like a 3.7ish unweighted. But I am very involved in my school and community and have deff. made the best of what my HS has to offer!

me here!!!

im an international student attending a competitive girls’ high sch.
i LOVE guys…
but i love the unexplainable girls’ passionate atmosphere n liberal arts education…

To everyone saying going to a women’s college is a “despite:”

Honestly, one of the things I’m looking forward to Smith (should I go) is that there’s easy access to Hampshire hippies. :P
