Smith College Class of 2015 RD waiting Thread

haha. I live in Atlanta too!

I got an email that just confirmed that they got my application, though it didn’t set me up on any portal. I also got an email from a representative that lived in my area for Smith and they set me up on an alumnae interview! I would email the admissions office and just make sure that they have your full application.

I’m applying RD.
SAT 1880
ACT 31
Smith wasn’t originally my top choice. I even thought about sacking the whole application. I’m so glad I didn’t. The more I look into it, the more it’s becoming my first choice school. How about that five college consortium; having the opportunity to take classes as Amherst would be pretty cool.
I also love the traditions-- Mountain day, Julia Child day, Afternoon tea… etc.
The dorms or rather lack there of are so great, and Smith was the college of two First Ladies.
Sorry I’m rambling on about Smith fun-facts, I’ve become obsessed.
Smith is incredible. Best of luck to us all.

Oh, I’m from Alaska. I think we should all post our acceptance results on here-- find out who we’re going to be meeting in the fall. ;P

I am from Bangladesh but lived in Japan my whole life. I can’t wait till the decisions come out; it’s making me anxious. Any other international applicants here?

hi i am international student from singapore. i was born in india but i’ve been in singapore for ages now. i look forward to meeting other fellow smithies :)

I’m so nervous that I have to go and check those random chance websites out there everyday. Do you know when the decisions come out?

I"m sure you’ll all do well come acceptance day!
And a reminder, any of your STRIDES should be finding out a wee bit early. Good luck on that as well  My STRIDE acceptance day was a happy one at my house!

Hey guys, let’s keep this thread alive! :D So what made you all decide to apply to Smith?

Hey ladies! RD applicant here  I decided to apply to Smith after a teacher suggested I visit when I told him I was visiting other schools in the area. And I visited and fell in love! I looove the strength of the science program, especially for a liberal arts college, and the housing system is awesome, and the entire campus made me feel so at home! The girls there seemed really chill and friendly. And Northampton is lovely, I really like the town :)

I’m not sure if Smith is my top choice, ultimately it will come down to FA so I’m trying not to get too attached to any one place, but I really, really love the school and I know I would have an amazing four years there.

Hello everyone.
I’m from small town GA. Smith is definitely one of my top choices, but I get a lot of flak for wanting to go to an all-women college.

Did you hear that Smith received the most amount of applicants ever this year. I heard somewhere that you can check your decision May 25th online, not sure though.

I decided to apply to Smith because I loved the origin of the college and their strong stand on social justice especially on LGBTQ issues.

Haha I doubt if it’s MAY 25th. Did you mean March? Anyway, welcome and good luck!

Yah I was worried for a while that the decisions might come out on March 18 and then I would have to be anxiously waiting on my birthday and opening night for my school’s musical so I hope it will be the 25th. I decided to apply to Smith after hearing about it from my Uncle and a lot of research after that. It quickly became my top choice!

Dear Kimberly,

I know the wait for college decision letters can be agonizing. I’ve decided to admit a select group of applicants early. Congratulations - you’re one of them!

We will be mailing your formal letter of admission of March 25. Financial aid information, if applicable will be included with your letter of admission. In the meantime, celebrate with family and friends since you have been officially admitted to the Smith College Class of 2015!

Sincerely,

Deb Shaver

Director of Admission

(loved your essay on “puzzles” - especially the notion that your puzzle box looks nothing like the one you’ve created)

I’m dying from excitement right now. The director of admissions READ MY ESSAY. From the looks of it, official letters will come out on March 25. Good luck everyone!

I received the same letter as kymazing! I’m very honored and excited! My note said something along the lines of “At Smith you will be able to continue pursuing your diverse range of extracurricular and academic interests.”
Good luck to those still waiting!

Congrats! Was that email or snail mail?

I just got an acceptance letter too! At the bottom it said, “Your essay made me want to eat an olive.”

What were your essays about? Stats? did the letter come in the mail or email? I’m so excited for you guys!

Snail mail. It came in a tiny envelope, too. I thought it was a rejection letter D:

Congrats to all of you! Awesome. I have a feeling this is kind of a “preemptive strike” to keep strong candidates interested in Smith and away from some of the other schools. I too would be interested in hearing stats. You don’t have to post one of those long “admitted” posts. SAT’s, ranks, etc would be fine. Again, congratulations. :D
