So is it safe to assume that if one didn’t get an (early RD) acceptance letter/email already, there’s no chance of (if one gets accepted at end of the week) getting a STRIDE or any other of the minimal merit aid Smith offers?

If I got into Mount Holyoke, are my chances better or worse at Smith? This waiting is killing me.

hmmmm calling us about what?!
ugh I am pretty sure I didn’t get in because of my senior grades but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about it : |

@jesm11

I don’t really see how getting into Mount Hoyoke could HURT your chances of getting into Smith…

Only one more week that you can stress ovet it though. Try to think positive (or not at all) about Smith. (Yesh, it’s easier said than done…)

I worded that sentence really weirdly. Let me rephrase it. Is getting into Mount Holyoke a good indication of an acceptance at Smith? Is it more common for students to get into Mount Holyoke and then get rejected from Smith or vice versa? Equal?

Congratulations, Bridget12345! Just to understand the process here, did you receive an early acceptance letter three weeks ago? I didn’t see you weigh in when that happened.

I second the questions given by CarolynB.

I’ve been counting down the days. A week, indeed, is extremely long. This will be the longest week of 2011.

I live in MA, which is why I may have gotten my STRIDE letter fairly quickly. And yes, I did also get an early letter a few weeks ago :)

I also live in MA, and received my STRIDE letter yesterday. I got an early acceptance as well!

Ahhhh I want a STRIDE so badly!! I’m in WA…

What are the qualifications for STRIDE?

I don’t think there are specific qualifications, it’s just a merit scholarship given to top applicants.

Oh yeah that’s what I meant, but I read something about a rough SAT/ACT estimate for STRIDE scholars.

Congrats to those who got it, and congrats on the early writes for those who didn’t!

Damnit. I was hoping they didn’t come out. Maybe I’ll get mine tomorrow? Doubtful, but I don’t want to give up hope completely.

UPDATE about Admission decision mail!
Last night I mailed Financial aid department and their 1st replied email (one that says “we will contact you as soon as possible” one and on the top of the mail there was this sentence.

“Student Financial Services will be closed Friday, March 18th, so that we can prepare the financial aid eligibility letters for the admitted class of 2015. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, March 21st.”

Which means they can send mails earlier then March 25th!
I heard that couple year ago, ED I decision was released like two or three days earlier!

Ladies, We are going to cry or smile in next week! (I really hope for ‘Smile’ for everyone here!)

I’m so nervous! I’ve spent this week pinpointing my dream houses at Smith, and I know it’s not healthy to dwell so much on a school that you haven’t even been accepted to yet, but I can’t help it. I hope to hear good news soon.

OK, not to rain on your parade, but that does not mean that they will be sending the mail earlier than the admissions office said they would. It just means that that’s how long the financial aid office is taking off to figure out the aid packages and print the letters, while stopping all of their regular business (remember, they are the financial aid office for current students as well, and they are busy with those financial services most of the year). There are still a number of pieces that the admissions office needs to do before the letters get sent out, including taking the letters from the aid office and putting them in the packets, assembling the rest of the packet materials, etc. And there still may be some final work the aid office completes after the 21st, they just don’t need to be completely shut down to get the last pieces tied off.

I don’t know that ED I decisions were ever released earlier than they said they would be. What is common though is for people to put up more than one conflicting date for when the decisions will be out, and then the misinformations swirls around and suddenly the decisions are “early” or “late”, when really they come out on the date that they planned to release them all along, just people on CC had a different story.

So again, I don’t want to tamp down anyone’s spirit, but you should stay focused on the 25th, that’s the date that the admissions office has given as far as it has been reported here. I know it’s hard to wait, but hang in there for five more days.

Are decisions released by mail only?

No, they’ll be posted on bannerweb on the 25th. I wish there was a way to self induce a 5 day coma…

SmithieandProud-I know what you are saying…and i am not really hoping for early notification either…but it just scares me.

well…I can’t really hope any higher than now because every day-dream of mine is related to Smith College (such as my life after Smith College or the love story I will have in Smith college, ect).
I even think they should never release the decisions so I can still be in my sweetest dream.

jesm11: SAME HERE! I am actually reading each house’s description! you know what, it worth my time because I will transfer to Smith if I don’t get in. So…I guess I am preparing for my future…and it is smart
