Our daughter has been accepted to both. Which college is best? She is still undecided as to her major but she has interest in pyschology and is very talented in art.

I think they are both excellant schools. It really comes down to what she’s looking for.

Both are in excellant consortiums, but would she want access to Haverford and Swarthmore or Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and UMass?

Both are rather small, but Bryn Mawr has only 1,300 undergrads and 1800 total. Smith has a larger enrollment of 2,600, but basically no graduate students.

Location should be a factor too. Does she want to live near Philadelphia or up in Massachusetts? How far away from home does she want to be? I don’t know where you live, but odds are one is closer to you than the other? What would she prefer.

Also, I think both campuses have very different “looks”. I think Bryn Mawr looks like Hogwarts(which is a good thing), whereas Smith is a little bit more “home-y” (still gorgeous though). Does it matter to her?

Last, it does come down to the “feel” of the school. Have you visited? Ask her which one she could see herself living at for four years. She really can’t make a bad choice as both are pretty darn amazing

I second the idea of visiting … two terrific choices (congrats to your daughter) … but from two drive throughs very different vibes on the campuses … and I would guess most students would have a definate preference of one of the campuses (and one of the locations)
