Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think that my profile was unique enough that they looked past my shortcomings
Where else you are applying or have already applied:
Accepted from SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Geneseo, Fordham, Case Western Reserve University
Waitlisted from Dickinson, Mount Holyoke
Denied from Middlebury, Barnard
I’m sooo happy that I got into Smith!! It is/was one of my top LACs and after receiving rejections and waitlists from the other lacks I applied earlier this week, I prepared myself for more rejection with Smith. and then… I was accepted!
I’m visiting in a few days since unfortunately, I can’t attend the accepted students thingy next month since I have a science conference to go to. Butttttt there’s going to be a Smith professor at the conference so who knows, maybe I’ll be able to do some networking
@hechopecho Congratulations!!! Smith sounds like a perfect place for you!!! Good luck!
@hechopecho I sent my ACT on accident, it’s pretty low. (I’m hiding)
@collegemom2016 thanks!!!
@LilyL5282 oh no! Same thing happened to me with Barnard so they saw my 1660 ahhh. Maybe one of the many reasons I was denied.
But I mean and entire 50% of Smithies scored below a 30 and at least 25% scored below 28 that’s a lot of people, you’re fineee
I applied to Case Western thinking that their range was 28-31 and it turns out it’s 30-33 ! I was definitely way low in terms of test score, and I’ve been denied/waitlisted from less competitive schools (Mount Holyoke, Dickinson. Big surprise. Now my struggle is finding out if I like CWRU or Smith more although im definitely leaning towards Smith.
Waitlisted and I accepted my spot. I’ve been waitlisted at two other places (Middlebury and CMU) and given a guaranteed transfer for Boston University NEXT fall, and accepted to Fordham, UConn Storrs, and Syracuse. It’s going to be a really tough decision Staying optimistic, though-- and congrats to everyone accepted! Smith is an AMAZING school!!
Some stats: White, very low income, SAT 2120, ACT 33, parent letter, awesome interview, visited a few times, a lot of college-level research work, a few APs, 4 years of Latin, a ton on volunteering, cool summer job, heavily involved in stage crew and FFA, only child in a single parent household, first-generation college student.
@collegemom2016 Thanks!!!
