WPI is an** engineering school**, while Smith is a LAC that has fairly recently added an engineering program. It is a generic degree that doesn’t prepare you for any specific engineering field. I have no doubt that these courses are interesting and well taught but you will need to go to grad school because you won’t have enough specific knowledge to be useful to most employers.
Here is the list of majors at WPI, including 10 engineering majors and bunch of other closely related ones such Interactive Media and Game Design, CS etc. Plus sciences and business.

**What kind of engineering do you want to study? What do you want to do when you graduate? **You need to focus on answering those questions because the options are completely different at these schools.
Then you can deal with the other differences - all female versus 32% female, location etc.
I would choose Smith if I wanted a women’s college and wanted to study anything other than engineering. It is an excellent school.
