Smith Engineering

Hi,

I was recently accepted to Smith and I really like the school. The issue is that I am pretty sure I want to major in Engineering, specifically Chemical, and I want to be employable after college. I was wondering how the placements at Smith are for engineering and how many people in the college major in it?

Hopefully you’ll get some responses from current students, but if you search on the Smith forum for “engineering” and look through the pinned topic at the top of the page, you’ll get a lot of useful info on the social life. There seem to be between 18-30 women graduating from the engineering program each year, and the Smith network and reputation means that if you make an effort, you will get a job. Look at the Smith engineering web site under alumnae and you’ll see examples.

I suggest you directly contact someone in the engineering department with your questions about chemical engineering. A couple of the Smith engineering professors have chemical engineering degrees, so they should be able to give you a good idea of the feasibility of a career in chemical engineering with a Smith engineering degree.
