so i heard back from housing yesterday, and i'm in smith hall! i don't plan on asking for a reassignment, i just wanted to know more about it from former residents or friends of residents haha. i know there is limited visitation so that kind of stinks, how strict are they about that, what exactly does that mean? also, i'm on like the 7th floor, how is the elevator situation? is smith as bad as everyone makes it out to be ? i hear they're redoing the bathrooms there, is that true?
sorry for so many questions!

its not as bad as its put out to be. i was on the second floor this past semester and while the rooms are tiny and thebathrooms are a walk away, youll be fine. only thing is that every floor has its distinct smell, yes distinct smell, lol. elevators are fine, theres 3 of them. as for visitation, my RA wast strict at all, just dont be obnoxious about it. im assuming your a female since you got assigned to the 7th floor, the bathrooms up there are much cleaner than mine were.

That sounds…just awful. I already sent in my reassignment thing. Any Idea how big the beds in there are? I saw pics on the web. (the third on Google when searching fsu smith hall) And that thing looks tiny. I’m 6’2 and either that girl is a giant or I’m gonna get back problems living there. I read about cockroaches somewhere…is that true? my priority nr. was pretty bad, in the 6000s I guess I should be happy to have a room at all. But I feel like I shouldn’t be. (happy)

Beds are fine, my roommate and i were both 6’2 and we had no problems. And what kauffman said about smell is true but its not a bad smell. Think of it as a world tour :)

And roaches…yes u will find like ONE only IF your room is really messy and has food all over the place. Then again, that depends on the people living in the room. Smith is good to live at, im back there again this fall for a second round :)

Any advice as to any kind of storage items my S should bring to Smith? Carts, over the door, things like that.
Thanks

Personally, i would bring stack-able plastic storage drawers since you can set them anywhere in the room without having a mess. :)

Will there be space for storage draws? lol
Im sorry Im not trying to bring smith down or anything…but Ive heared terrible stuff. Its not easy hearing your living in prision dorms while your friends get in Ragan and reynolds…
But I guess you bond better with people cause youre in it together so to say…
,

If cost is a consideration, Smith is only $1950 for a double per semester while the suite dorms are $2510 for a double. A Ragan’s single is $2820.

Oh and yes apparently they are redoing the bathrooms, ill try to find out more from my RA friend. The RA’s are not really that strict about limited visitations…

so umm what does the 3rd floor smell like. haha
