Hi, I am a freshman to Case and selected Smith House in Juniper.
I recently found out that it is the worst of the lot for various reasons, and has no social scene at all.
Is it really that bad?
Anyone with knowledge on life in Smith please share what I should be prepared for expect!
I am a Case parent. All the freshman dorms are exactly the same. Its not a big deal where you live at Case Western in freshman year, as all the dorms are clustered and you can go to fraternity or sorority parties if you want to. I dont’ think there are a lot of “dorm parties” at Case, but a student can correct me if I am mistaken. My son lived in the freshman dorms three years ago now, and it could have changed. For sure you should find a social sorority or fraternity at Case Western. Do not worry about the freshman dorm you will only be there nine months. Its a don’t care.
@Physicsapplicant If you are majoring in physics at CWRU you are in luck. Its a FANTASTIC program. My son is in that program. Let me know if you need more information. You can privately message me if you wish.
Don’t stress about what you are hearing regarding the freshman dorm. The vibe will change each year since it’s a new group of residents each year. Get involved with other activities to expand your group of friends but enjoy the freshman experience and don’t worry about the negative reviews you’ve heard.
