If you had to pick between the two, which would you go for: Smith or Bryn Mawr?

I'm in the middle of picking out of these two schools and have reached a problem where I feel truly comfortable at Smith and love the people at the atmosphere there, but feel like Bryn Mawr could offer me more opprotunity with its connection with Haverford. I do not feel like I can relate as well or get along as well with the people at Bryn Mawr, which is the big draw back to the school.

What are your opinions?

If the money is the same, and you like Smith better, go there. Smith does have cooperative arrangements, they just aren’t as close and intense as the ones between Bryn Mawr and Haverford.

Really, the only reasons to choose Bryn Mawr in this case would be if your major field were stronger there and/or if the financial aid were significantly better.

Bryn Mawr doesn’t just have its super-close relationship with Haverford, it also has course-sharing arrangements with nearby Swarthmore and the University of Pennsylvania. (for those exceptionally obscure classes that require the scale of a research university to make them feasible)

Also opens up great social options between the 4 schools. When I went to Penn I dated a Bryn Mawr girl at one point. She also took some upper-level linguistics classes at Penn.

HoneyRose, which school did you decide–Smith or Bryn Mawr? I’m a mom of a first-year Smithie and I’m curious which you chose. (I hope it was Smith! )
