Smith or Mount Holyoke College?

Hi! I am an international student and I am applying under Early decision program to Smith or Mount Holyoke College. I have a high need about 90%.

I am aware of the differences between these two schools but I just need to know which one offers more financial aid to international students.

Can anyone tell me which school would be better for me??

This year, Mount Holyoke gave an average of $34K in aid to 448 international students. Smith gave an average of $44K to 168 international students.

Hey Thanks! Bdw, do you happen to know the early decision admission rate of Mount Holyoke College?

Definitely Smith.

Why do you feel compelled to apply ED? Clearly, you don’t prefer one of these over the other. Why not wait and apply to both regular decision?

I would advice you to go to Smith if you have a high need. I heard Mount Holyoke isn’t good with FA

Hello! So I am an international student and I got into Mount Holyoke ED2 with financial aid. I also got the 21st century scholarship. My family contribution (with health insurance) is about 8.5 k. I can only afford 6 k per year. I tried negotiating but the financial aid department wasn’t very flexible. I don’t know what to do now because I really want to attend MHC. Is it possible to save (summer jobs/internships) about 3 k per year in MHC so that I could contribute towards my family contribution? Are there any outside/inside scholarships for international students that I could apply for after I enroll? Please share your financial experiences with me at MHC. Thanks!

If you can stay somewhere for free, it’s quite possible to save 3k over the summer. Otherwise, most of your summer income will probably go towards summer room and board.

@b@r!um: are there any outside scholarships for international students (wanting to double major in Visual arts and Physics/architectural studies) ?? And does colleges like bryn Mawr, smith, wellesley, lafayette, colgate provide more aid that MHC??

Every college has its own aid formula, so you might end up getting from aid from somewhere else. (Personally, Bryn Mawr intially offered me less aid than Holyoke, but Bryn Mawr was willing to revise their aid package to something that was doable for me and more generous than Holyoke’s offer.)
