hey, i was wondering, if you put in accounting as ur major on the application, but got put into the college of division of letters and sciences, and the major on the maryland planner was shown as "undecided", does that mean you didn't get in? if so, how hard is it to transfer to the smith school, and can you transfer as early as 2nd semester of freshman year?

i assume that means you didn't get into the smith school. I have general business and Smith as my things. I don't know how hard it is to transfer but they do say it is one of their hardest schools to get into. Most kids at most schools don't have to much trouble transfering or changing their major if they have over a 3.0 I think. E-mail them...

lol..actually i'm asking for the boyfriend..sounds stupid but he doesn't have a username here so i decided to figure it out myself. but thanks though! i'll try to research more..anyone else have any answers to my question? :)

Yeah, the whole letters and sciences thing means you didn't get into the business school. No worries though, complete 50% of the core requirements and the lower level business classes(I think) with at least a 3.0 gpa and you're pretty much bound to get in.

ifyousayso--if my boyfriend put economics as his second major (non-LEP), why didn't he get put inot the college of behavioral and social sciences, where econ is offered as a major? did he not qualify for that college, either? thanks!

You can check out the criteria for the business program at www.lep.umd.edu

The "Come on In" brochure in our packets talks about the Letters and Sciences school and the LEP's - specifically business - look on page 14 of the brochure for the credits and GPA details.

That said - I think I saw a few people admitted directly into the b school on the decisions thread.
