how is the air quality in claremont? is it bad like los angeles, or is the town far enough away that it isn't affected? if the air is pretty bad, how easy is it to get away from it by going into the mountains? as an outdoorsy, asthmatic runner, this will be a major issue in deciding where i go. thanks in advance for your response.

i personally do not think it is too bad. i dunno... i think people make a bigger deal out of the smog than they should. yeah, it's not as clear as montana or what-not, but it sure is not downtown LA.

I'm pretty sure this was already a thread before and it was said that the smog wasn't noticeable at all except if the wind was blowing the exact right way on some days.

If that's what was said before, I feel it's necessary to pipe in and say that that's not entirely true...

On most days, the smog isn't too bad. So as long as you're not looking too far off in the distance, you can't really tell. But there are days when you can't see mount baldy, and that's when you know it's bad. Personally, I'm pretty disgusted by the smog levels, but I've committed myself to this place, and despite all of my issues with it, I'm actually pretty glad I came. Smog definitely wasn't the deciding factor for me.
