Smoking rate

<p>I always read that the smoking rate among high school and college students is around 30%, but is the rate actually higher? I don't smoke, but well more than half of my friends do, and the majority of people I know smoke. </p>

<p>So when these polls are conducted, do people lie because they don't want to be reprimanded? Or maybe my high school just happens to have more smokers, or maybe I'm choosing to hang out with smokers?</p>

<p>Well also, they don't really ask everyone, so it's bound to be imperfect.</p>

<p>people might be scared of getting in trouble, and oftentimes when someone asks "Do you smoke?" people who HAVE smoked or occasionally have a cig will say no, because they don't smoke often enough to consider themselves "Smokers" or "People who smoke." A better question would be, have you smoked?</p>
