Smoking?

“All you’re proving is that you are a sheep, a slave to generalizations. I won’t laugh if you decide to stop posting. All you are doing is making a fool out of yourself.”

That’s it, I must be a fool for thinking drugs were bad for you. What was I thinking? lol
I think I am more of a fool for continuing to respond to you to be honest:)
(that was mean, sorry:/)

I fixed your quote: you are a fool for thinking marijuana is bad for you. I never once mentioned other drugs being good, in fact if you had taken the time to read my counter-argument (it would have taken half the time you have spent attempting to be sarcastic) you would know that caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine are far worse for you than marijuana. Its sad to see that you cling to your beliefs so stubbornly and refuse to see the truth. Just FYI, marijuana is the only illegal drug that was made illegal not because of its effects, but because of its political and economic consequences for two very rich and influential men. I notice you live in California. As a resident of the most openly marijuana embracing state, what is your opinion on the California policy for use of medical marijuana to TREAT illnesses and the majority supported consideration of legalizing marijuana in California to offset our amazing deficit (California Assembly Bill 390, where marijuana would be sold and taxed openly to adults age 21 and older in California)

My quote didn’t need editing haha. It’s not a quote if you change my words:> I know about the law, thanks for bringing that to my attention…for the third or so time:> AGAIN, think what you want, and I will do the same. It was nice acknowledging a counter opinion though, so thanks for that:>

I didn’t bring it to your attention for the third time, this is the first time I’ve mentioned it. And I wasn’t telling you, I was asking you. I would like to know your opinion. Same words, do you mind replying? here:

As a resident of the most openly marijuana embracing state, what is your opinion on the California policy for use of medical marijuana to TREAT illnesses?

What is your opinion on the majority supported consideration of legalizing marijuana in California to offset our amazing deficit (California Assembly Bill 390, where marijuana would be sold and taxed openly to adults age 21 and older in California)

I mean I’ve acknowledge the law through the news etc. You are the the third source that has brought it to my attention, sorry about that:) I believe that if no other sources of medicine are available to cure the patient, or if the drugs are the most efficient way to cure them, then I would support its usage. However, when I was stating my opposition towards its usage, I meant when it was uneeded. Obviously, if one NEEDS the drug as a medicine then I find it to be acceptable.

Fair enough. But can you tell me why medical marijuana was approved for curing and treating illnesses, when it is supposedly as bad as you (and to an extent, the federal government) says? It is technically against federal law for California to have MMJ programs, if you didn’t know. But the federal DEA no longer raids MMJ facilities because they understand its benefits and lack of detriment, and how it would be unconstitutional for them to stop treatment for the sake of its agenda, which is to stop youth from touching anything illegal. I tried, and was not able to change your opinion, so I won’t try anymore. But I might as well depart by telling you to keep an open mind about marijuana, because it will be legalized in the next twenty years. Good night.

Haha, I don’t plan to change my opinion, but it’s definitely good to get information from another’s point of view. After all, the only way to make your opinions stronger is to research and become familiar with the opposing side. Good night!:)

I smoke weed regularly, and i see NO issue with it.
I agree with theReach, when you look at FACTs and not just dumb generalizations, you see marijuana is not harmful. In fact, it is extremely beneficial in moderation.

The first state to legalize marijuana(my bet’s on CA) is where i will spend the rest of my life. I just hope the whole US gets some common sense and legalizes.

I don’t smoke cigs though…that’s just nasty…Cigars are nice though

i would like to note tht im cleaning out my pipe right now and excited for the resin :)

so here is my opinion on all the things mentioned.
Cigs: I don’t really care. My best friend smokes cigs all the time, and i chew. I am right now. haha. But it is nice. After studying for 5 hours, a nice little buzz does wonders. I love it. But it is very bad for you, so i try to stay away from it.
Weed: oh my god… who doesn’t love weed. It’s great. Well, I mean, I come from a town where we are known for weed. I mean, I have smoked with my friends parents… so I used to do it a lot, i mean, i went through a dub a day ( great times) but I stopped because I was too into it. I just loved doing it. I agree with the idea of moderation. That is key. If you become a stoner, you don’t wanna do anything and that is really bad with school, but i mean after some finals, some nice ganja does wonders.

I like it when people quote marijuana “facts” from government-funded agencies, as if they weren’t biased at all. weed is still illegal solely for political reasons.

Yeah wartsandall is just embarrassing himself by posting. Also gonna smoke a bowl to help me sleep because I have crazy jet lag from New Zealand.

I’m jumping in late here. Towards the end I’ll admit I rushed through reading some of the posts.

But to The Reach:

Your counter-argument evidence are rather outdated sources. Some of these findings have since been disproved. Sure, he might have quoted government funded agencies but I can guarantee that privately funded agencies have supported many of the same assertions. And on a personal note, I know several people who have been mentally messed up as a result of weed. I’m not trying to cause conflict. I just feel you and several others are being somewhat harsh towards Wartsandall. His (?) views are just even if he isn’t proving them with sources that you deem credible or if he is not proving them the most effective way. It’s a just opinion.

Personally, I have never smoked or drank or anything like that, but if I did do anything, it would be smoking weed. Not even drinking, which seems like no big deal to all of my friends.

I think it’s perfectly fine as long as it’s done in moderation.

Really, I’d like to see sources that disprove what I quoted. As far as I’m concerned the majority of the medical and psychiatric community views marijuana as beneficial to health in moderation. And of course there are private orgs that say the same thing. Like I pointed out, Wartsandall quoted from an organization dedicated to crisis support for at risk GLBT teens in a low income neighborhood. I think they’re more concerned with keeping them away from anything illegal then making sure they aren’t generalizing.

Yes, I know plenty of people that are messed up stoners as well. But I also know messed up alcoholics. It doesn’t mean that alcohol is to blame, plenty of people can drink in moderation. The same thing goes for weed. In fact, I haven’t smoked in two months.

smoking anything IMO is disgusting. I don’t know how people do it.

Some people consider the same for soda, but people seem to be more open towards that one…

As for OP, eh, I don’t smoke myself, but I don’t have anything against it and really don’t care (I dislike the smell of cigarettes though and since a lot of my family smokes, it’s rather annoying).

Ouch sigurros, I must be. Yet I don’t feel embarrassed, nor do I honestly care what some of your opinions are. O well, I think I got over it? I think several people would agree with my opinions, but perhaps you don’t. Should I feel embarrassed because a few people online don’t agree with my opinion? I don’t believe so:)

^ The Reach

I’m an LGBT student living in a low-income neighborhood… and yes I smoke weed. Not like that has to do with anything, but, I thought it was kinda funny.

Anyways, I just wanted to set this one thing straight:

Someone mentioned smoking weed gives you lung cancer. FALSE!
Didn’t anyone read that study by… oh… what was the name of that school. Even in the same city as the university of my screename. That’s right, UCLA.

[Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection - washingtonpost.com](http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/25/AR2006052501729.html)

There’s other youtube videos, articles, etc. on the topic.

Anywho, Pear is right when they summed it up short and sweet. Weed is illegal for political reasons. That ONE 15 year old who went to juvi for armed robbery, burglary, etc… has a better shot at getting financial aid than a high school honors student who got charged with minor possession of marijuana. Although, the FAFSA might be changing that.

all of you are wrong about cigs. after smoking a while, your body becomes used to a routine and then becomes reliant on the nicotine, then youre addicted. and a lot of people dont know theyre addicted until they pause for a second

@thereach- there’s a lot of facts that disagree with what you said
