Anyone applying to SMU for the class of 2010?

yes i just got accepted!!!

Congratulations.

Can you post your stats and exactly when you applied?

of course. i applied at the beginning of november. my stats are 1930 SAT (590 reading, 650 math, 690 writing) and 29 ACT. I have a 5.5 weighted on a 5.0 scale and am ranked 2/250 in my class. What are your stats?

SAT: 1910 (670 cr, 570 math, 670 writing)

GPA: 3.7 (IB Diploma student)

Lot's of EC's.

My high school does not rank.

Are you from Dallas? And are you planning to attend?

yea you could totally get in. and yes i'm from a suburb of dallas and i'm for sure attending, what about you?

I'm still waiting for my SMU decision, and I also applied to the University of Texas-Austin and Texas A&M, so I'll wait to here from those too before I make a final decision.

I applied to the business school at SMU, what about you?

i think i'm going into dedman...are you in top 10% in texas? if so, you're automatically accepted into a state school. where are you from?

I am from Texas but I live overseas and go to an international school. Also, my high school does not rank.

well good luck and let me know how your college decisions goes. my AIM screen name is supersarah136 if you ever want to IM me. GOOD LUCK!

SMU is overpriced, overrated school for rich white boys. Anybody disagree? They aren't ranked in anything, yet they still charged 40k a year?

Got accepted today with a scholarship!

I got accepted sometime in December, and got a scholarship letter the other day, but I won't be going (USNA here I come!!).

baklava, it depends. smu is a great school if you plan to stay in the area (dallas). i am from a suburb of dallas (arlington) and i am applying to smu cox as a safety. the other colleges i am applying to are in new york and boston.

SMU is ranked top 10 for its theatre program, and Meadows School of Arts has wonderful Music and Dance programs as well. While it is rather pricey/lacking in diversity (rich white boys is a way of putting it, I guess), it is still good for certain things and you can get really good financial aid- especially in the merit department.

My daughter has been accepted early action and SMU is her #1 choice. She also received a notification that she has been selected as a University Scholar. She is applying for the Hunt Leadership Scholarship as well. What are the chances for her being selected one of those considering that she has already been accepted EA? Does anyone have any information about the Hunt Program and who they typically select for those awards? Thanks in advance!

Well, son got accepted in early January, received $30K merit scholarship (over 4 years) and a matching merit scholarship from the School of engineering. SMU was his #2 choice.

But since he just received a 3/4 scholarship from what became his #1 choice in florida, looks like he will be goig there.

With that said, he really liked SMU (as did I) but I think the beach was calling, LOL. Frankly, it really came down to money as well. he had a 790 math and 690 verbal and is in the top 10 in his class of 400.

i was recently accepted to SMU. i got a letter yesterday about the hunt leadership scholarship and was chosen as one of the top 50. 330 applied for the scholarship, 50 are chosen for interviews and 15-20 actually receive the scholarship.

Congratulations to you on your interview, that is awesome! We have still not received any news other than a letter a couple of weeks ago stating that we would hear back from them either way by the end of February. Where do you live and when did you say that you received your letter?
Thanks again and Good Luck!
