Starting this topic for those accepted for Spring 2022.
I was also admitted spring of 2022. I’m disappointed given that I am within their range of stats and its my 2nd choice
I am a little disappointed as well. Hoping to get moved to Fall entry but we will see. What’s your first choice? I have to decide between Baylor Fall and Smu Spring…
Did anyone receive any word about FA or merit aid? We’ll definitely have to pass on SMU if we don’t get FA.
I was told by April 9th for FA.
My counselor said that FA will go out with the Spring entry program notification which they said we will get by April 9
Did you submit your application early or near the deadline? I’m wondering if this made a difference between fall and spring admission.
No I applied October 30 early decision. Deferred December 18. You?
Daughter applied at the last minute (mid-January).
Hmm then I guess it doesn’t make sense why we both got Spring unless our stats are the same.

I asked my admissions counselor only about 100 students get Spring admit so it’s a small club.
Very similar stats. Applied test optional though.
That is a small # for Spring admit! She completed the spring interest form today even though she has no idea if she can attend without knowing financial aid info.
Same boat as you, let’s stay in touch. I’ll let you know if and when I hear any news, pls do the same. Merit scholarships/grants would have been in Spring admissions letter. Mine didn’t mention anything about any scholarships/grants so I assumed I got none. Did your letter mention anything? FA is different so we should see that come thru by the 9th.
What’s your backup schools if you don’t do Smu? Mine is Baylor Fall admission
From their site
When will I receive my financial aid award letter notification?
Generally, award letters are mailed beginning March 15. SMU must receive and review your electronic FAFSA and CSS Profile™before mailing an award letter.
So they’re coming
Daughter got into Wake Forest, which she loves, but price is very high. She also got into TAMU (Blinn Team) but doesn’t want to go because her friends have told her it’s too conservative. She also visited the TAMU campus and thought it was dreary and depressing. Her third option is Texas Tech (Honors College) which sounds like a wonderful opportunity, but she’s not excited at all about going there (though she prefers it over TAMU). My choice would be TAMU for sure - excellent academics, reputation & price. Plus, in a school of 40,000 students, she would find her niche. She would prefer either Wake Forest or TT Honors College at this point. We would have to take on a lot if debt to send her to Wake, but she would graduate debt-free if she chooses TAMU or TT. Tech has offered her very generous merit aid. She’s also WL at 3 schools. All this to say - we have no clue where she’ll end up this fall
Ok well she has great options I got PSA at Tamu
I was so happy she got into Blinn team. I feel it’s too good to pass up; she feels differently. It’s a foolish choice to pass up the TAMU acceptance. I have a feeling she’ll regret it someday. I still have a tiny amount of hope she’ll change her mind. Regardless, I’m keeping the TAMU banner as a keepsake.
I agree tamu and smu tied at 66 I believe for best colleges in the country. I thought it was dreary too but those that go love it. It’s awefully nice of y’all to let her choose especially with money being a factor. What’s her major?
She chose the Nutrition major at TAMU and TT and biology at SMU and Wake. She wants to do premed. We told her we would fund state school tuition, but she’ll have to take out loans if she wants to go to a more expensive school. We would have to cosign some of the loans and then transfer them fully under her name only once she’s working. We have two younger kids we have to consider when making financial decisions.
