Daughter got in, but will find out about the business school admission next week. Nothing about scholarship which surprised me.

D accepted with Distinguished Scholarship. Congrats to everyone accepted!

Curious as well. Son got in-same about Cox but nothing about scholarship either.

My D got in with the Distinguished Scholarship waiting for Cox decision next week.

Is it expected that any merit that’s given comes with the acceptance letter? My daughter received acceptance and was also admitted to the Meadows School but no mention of merit. Thanks and congratulations to everyone who got some good news today!

@Kbmees My son was accepted two years ago and my daughter was accepted today and both had merit scholarships on their admissions letters. Hope this helps.

@antiquedealermom Thanks. Ugh, disappointing at best but perhaps we will hear from Meadows on artistic merit.

Hi, did you get any type of financial aid last year? Per SMU, they don’t send out the decision on the financial aid until Apr. Is that what happened last year?

Son was admitted EA last night. SMU Second Century Scholarship. Says he will be notified next week about Cox direct entry status.

Same here, D was accepted, no scholarship. Waiting for Cox. She got a great scholarship from TCU, so I was surprised no scholarship from SMU. Wondering if those applying to business school are given less or no merit.

@CA2TX Cox has good funding so I believe it’s more about the competitiveness of applicants vs reduced merit per enrollee. Hopefully other aid based on FAFSA makes it an affordable option. It’s a great school.

Yeah, I was a little surprised as well, as my son also received a nice merit scholarship for TCU. We won’t receive any institutional aid and the price of SMU is pretty high!

A question for the EA people: do you have to accept the offer before they will consider you for the Presidential Scholarship?

Unfortunately, we aren’t eligible for any other FAFSA aid, I was really hoping for merit scholarships - SMU wasn’t even a reach school for her, but she really liked it and wants to move to Texas. We will have to see if she gets into Cox and then weigh our options.

I feel ya! She was pretty upset she didn’t get any “love” from SMU, so that may play heavily into her decision making.

@VTquest you don’t have to submit a deposit to go through the Presidential Scholar interview process. ~60 are interviewed and 20-25 enroll.

So it means you can still be technically waiting and considering offers from other schools while you are being considered/interviewed for the Presidential Scholarship? That is very generous.

What about SMU Opportunity Scholarship? Your D might be eligible.
