SMU Engineering??

I am planning to tranfer from a local community college to SMU and major in mechanical engineering. My question is that IS SMU know for its engineering?how's the engineering department??

While SMU Engineering is not as well-known as SMU Cox (Business) or SMU Meadows (performing arts), it is still a solid program. A friend of mine is planning on majoring in engineering at SMU. The facilities are great and the program really emphasizes internships with local firms; in fact, there is even a "co-op" degree option that adds one more year to your plan but puts money in your pocket before you even graduate from SMU.

If you have any more questions, just let me know. If I don't know the answers off the top of my head, I'll be glad to help find the answers for you.

thanx for the info

nathanTX07...did you apply to Cox...do you know anything about the Buisness Scholars program or how or when they accept people for it?

Serra, yes I applied to Cox. Here's what I know about Business Scholars:

• Only about 100 people per incoming class are invited into the program
• the BBA Admissions Office is in charge of selecting who gets accepted
• For Early Action admits, if you are a Business Scholar you will be receiving a letter in the mail in a short period of time (according to my admissions counselor)
• If you are accepted, you are basicly able to take advantage of Cox resources in your freshman year
• There is also a 1-hour seminar class that you take during your first year with the other business scholars. This seminar introduces you to every area of study in Cox and to what jobs they could lead you.
