SMU Letter of recommendation format

I saw from their application checklist that they have their own format regarding their recommendation letters, which require the student to fill in some parts, and the teacher/counselor fill in and rated the students.

Question is: is it the only format that SMU will take? If the teacher just send in their own letter of recommendation to SMU, will that be ok?

My son has the same question too. He’s applying via the Common App, and his HS has all counselors and teachers submit that way as well. (In fact, his counselor has already submitted his letter to the Common App.)

My son is a current freshman at SMU. He had his teachers send their rec letters through Common App (via Naviance) last year during applications.
