SMU sorority/Greek life

Hi there! I know Greek life at smu is very prevalent, and I am interested in rushing in the spring. I am wondering how difficult it is to actually get into a sorority considering the competitiveness and demographics of smu. I am not a legacy, nor do I know anyone already in a sorority at smu. I do realize that many people get bids, I guess my real question is how hard is it to get a bid from a “mid-top tier sorority” (percentage wise would be best or how many people does each sorority take in approx). Also SMU is a school of wealth and from the looks of social media many girls carry designer bags and are gorgeous, so what are the chances/necessities for incoming pnms? Thank you!

For best chances at rush, girls need to get recommendations from women (friends of your mother for example or people you may know in the community) who were members in each sorority on campus. You may be able to contact the chapters in your state and see if you can find people from your area to write you recommendations, but the best way is if you or your family knows someone personally. During first semester, you need to sign up to let the Panhellenic Council know you are rushing. Girls on campus will be aware and will be on the lookout for girls that will fit in at their sorority. If they like you and you do not have a rec, active sorority members can request one. It is a good idea to take a class where there might be upperclass women who will get to know you. There is a place for everyone who wants to rush pretty much.

At smu specifically the letters are fine, but they mostly care about who you meet and connect with most first semester. Attend different events and clubs to meet as many people and work to connect with those you like best.
