SMU vs. Chapman U (Transfer student)

I’m in a bit of a situation here. I’m a transfer student going for her Bachelors in Computer Science. I applied to both Chapman and SMU.

The Chapman deadline for acceptance was at the start of June, and I did not hear a peep from SMU. So, I accepted Chapman and paid a deposit.

Lo and behold, today I received notification of my acceptance to SMU.

Now, SMU in my eyes is the better school. It was originally my dream school, but as an absurd amount of time went by I assumed they were not going to respond at all. I’ve grown quite fond of Chapman since then. I visited recently since I live an hour away, and I really loved the school and area.

Financially, I have the G.I. Bill and the Yellow Ribbon program. I applied to the G.I. Bill listing Chapman as my school, so that might be a headache to sort out if indeed I go with SMU. Chapman’s veterans office was very easy to contact, and I was assured that all costs will most likely be covered for the entire duration of my studies. SMU’s phone lines are apparently not in order, so I have no info yet on whether I will have to pay tuition.

Additionally, I do not know what major I was accepted as. My account does not say, which is quite strange. So until they respond to my emails, I’m at a loss regarding that.

Logically, I know SMU is better. But I feel like the rug has been pulled from under me, so I’m not sure I can think clearly right now. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Logically, Chapman is better in your situation.

Why do you think SMU is better? Chapman sounds like they want you, they are easy to work with, and you like the school. I can’t understand why you are considering SMU.

Disappointing that SMU didn’t respond more quickly. How long did it take to get a decision?

The SMU admission Is for any major except business or performing arts.

Although I’m an SMU fan, your situation at Chapman sounds incredible.
