My son got accepted in SMU/TAMU/UTD Engineering program. SMU offered decent scholarship which makes
attending SMU/TAMU the same.
My son is an average student and I was wondering how hard is the program at TAMU/UTD compared to SMU?
I want to him to graduate on time and get employed after graduation (line any parent)
What GPA is necessary to keep the SMU scholarship? Holding up a 3.0 can be difficult for engineering majors.
I would go with SMU. It’s a small private and provides more support compared to UTD or TAMU and you get make good connections.
Know kids at both UTD and SMU and have to chime in… SMU is small and private, but does not necessarily provide more support. The school promises this, but does not necessarily deliver. It depends on the specific school/department/advisor/mentor.
Unknown cost at SMU is also something to consider. If their tuition goes up 5 - 8% every year, is it still affordable in years 2 - 4?
3.0 to keep the scholarship
