<p>SMU is my first choice college but I'm having issues finding a way to pay. I have already been offered larger scholarships from several colleges. Has anyone had any luck "negotiating" a larger scholarship from SMU based on the fact that you are receiving more money from similarly prestigious schools?</p>

<p>My daughter did. She wrote a letter and sent her other offers to SMU and they matched them!</p>

<p>Did she just email? And did she go through her admissions counselor?</p>
<p>It was not this year. She is a student now. She did talk to her her admin counselor but she sent a letter and an email with the offer letters from the other schools and stated that SMU was her first choice but had these other offers and was wondering if they could make their offer more competitive. They did not add money to her existing scholarship but offered her an additional one, so basically the same result.</p>
