Is there a way to sneak an award won in eighth grade onto my app? Would you recommend it, or does that make me seem desperate?

Not that I am desperate :)

I wouldn't do it. Saying you've done an EC SINCE 4th grade or something is one thing, putting on award from 8th is another.

Okay, so 8th grade makes me sound desperate. Here's one more for you. One of my big EC's is organizing a fundraiser. Thing is, the fundraiser, though it definitely will happen and I have been organizing it for a while...well, it hasn't taken place yet (scheduled for the week before Thanksgiving).

It's the EC I want to write about in my short answer. How do you think I should write about this to make it believable that it is actually happening and not just some "well, I'll get around to it" thing?

Only if you continue with it in high school then you might be able say, I play piano for 12 years, won the Most Fabulous Player of the year - year XX.

^ I agree. it would be acceptable if it reinforced an EC you did throughout high school.

Is this regarding the short answer of the common application? Wait until this even happens first. You can write in december, otherwise, this would be an exercise in creative writing.

You can talk about the work you have done organizing the fundraiser and state how much you have learned already and how much you look forward to the final result.
