haha ^^ looks like the title of a book. tee hee

sempitern is a troll. he did it on the harvard board too.

Mike is absolutely correct:

Princeton is in fact a very liberal campus. The Prince ran a mock election, Kerry 62%, Bush 24%.

I sincerely hope that nobody on this board is choosing a college based on the dorms. Oh lord.

Princeton is a great town; it has everything we need in OUR EXTREMELY LIMITED INTERACTION with it. If you need 75-100 bars and nightclubs within walking distance of your school, I would suggest not coming to Princeton for other reasons.

As a conservative, it sickens me to hear Princeton called a conservative school.
One stat:
e-mail list membership: College Democrats: 1300
College Republicans: 367

Also, with maybe literally ONE or TWO exceptions the faculty at Princeton is liberal, and will be, for a long long time.

There will be rich kids and preppy children of affluence at every school in the country. At Princeton it seems as if many of them tone it down to fit in.

See, it's a good thing that ppl bring totally baseless arguments like this to the board. Of course everyone's entitled to their opinion, but such arguments help in bringing out the true picture.

Wouldn't it be useful for lurkers and the class of '10? :) 2centorth

yeah, I'm learning more about princeton from this discussion :)

and very snobbish...i used to live in the area, when my father worked there.

vanillaice3000,

Can you provide any examples of how Princeton the area is snobbish? In both of your posts that I've seen, you've only given these pretty bold and, frankly, unsupported assertions about Princeton without really providing any meat.

im a wealthy WASP and im an elitist. so i guess i fit the stereotype well.

of course thats why i applied early decision, and will be attending next year.

Well, there have to be at least five in each class to perpetuate the stereotype. Now that you're in, we need four more. Any takers?

You know what, I have decided to give Princeton the benefit of the doubt. I will be applying regular decision. If I get in (and thats a BIG if), then I will visit the school once more before deciding on my final choice. Oh and by the way, I don't necessarily shy way from the more ocnservative schools, I did end up applying to Rice.

Is it the norm for "wealthy" students to be first generation college applicants?

hey, i'm allowed to be wealthy seeing as i sued when the doctors killed my [uneducated] father.

don't you feel bad now ;) mwahahahah

Only half of the admitted students qualify for financial aid... how rich can these people be?

dont let pton's preppiness stop you

Booooo my chocolate is over... (as if the previous post was :-P)

Are you considered "rich" if you can afford to fully pay the Princeton tuition bill?

You're considered "rich" by the 52% on financial aid, perhaps. ;) jk

What difference? If you gave the President's of Harvard, Yale and Princeton the resumes/admission records, SATs etc of all their freshman student body anonymously and asked them to say whether it was their student body, they couldn't tell you. They draw from 99% the same pool of super-kids.

Somehow I missed the relevance of that post...

I mean that talking about Ptown being snobby vs the others is dubious -- it's basically the same kinds of people, good and bad....
