Looks like much of New England will be getting a snow storm on Friday, which is revisit day for many schools (including one we are going to). What to do??

Drive up Thursday night and stay in a local hotel. Bring boots.

It’ll just be the nuisance variety. It’ll likely melt as it hits the ground. I don’t think it will cause much trouble. You’ll get to see how poorly prep school kids dress for the weather!

@neato: I never knew that Bean boots and sundresses went together, but based on a recent revisit, I now know! ;-)

Because Exeter is so close to the coast we will likely not get snow - but a ‘thick’ slushy mix and rain. Waterproof boots a must. Welcome to spring in NE.

So March isn’t ‘in like a lion and out like a lamb?’ I guess Exeter likes it’s lions too much.

Here’s the thing though- as Neato pointed out earlier - only the parents will dress appropriately Friday.
For 3 years now, as soon as spring term hits - my S wears shorts. No coat - perhaps a team sweatshirt. it was 28 with high winds last week - he wore white shorts and a pink striped shirt. Of course, it was 67 degrees the last day of winter 2 weeks ago.

April Fool’s?

Sevendad - Bean boots go with everything in northern New England. :)

Well, we aren’t headed to Exeter, but to north-central CT, where 6-12 inches are forecast. Even staying overnight Thursday night, I don’t relish revisiting in the midst of a driving snow storm. I have no idea what that will do to our son’s perception of the school either.

Boston and much of NE will get 14’'. Don’t bother bringing boots, call National Guard instead. Good luck.

Boston will most likely receive the bulk of its precipitation in the form of rain. The northwest part of the state could get 6-12 inches of snow. Either way it could be messy.

Egh. I just put my boots in the closet. Now I have to dig them out so I can wear them on the plane up to NE. Stupid weather.

Just remember, it’s not always snowy in New England. You still have mud season to look forward to!

I think it will be great that it’s snowing. You’ll get a chance to really feel what it’s like to be a student in NE in the winter vs beautiful fall/spring seasons. That large campus may not be so great when trudging through 6" of snow and boarding schools seldom cancel due to weather.

Walked away and realized it sounded like I was implying people are making decisions based on aesthetics. Not my intention. Just that we’ll be having a dose of NE reality tomorrow :)

Snow was a new element for my d at BS this year and she has loved it. Adds to the drama and adventure. Do you think teenagers like to avoid drama and adventure? ;)

@sillysully: You make a valid point about on-campus logistics. I’ve come to appreciate the campuses where movement amongst buildings during the day is minimal. From visiting my son who attends school in NH, I’ve noticed that many kids just skip the outerwear even if it’s frigid.
