Is there really 9' of snow in one week? Where does it all go? It seems like you would be walking (or driving) in continuous valleys -- like a maze if there were truely that much!!!

haha where are you from? i live in upstate NY and it's really not that bad...we've gotten hit a few times with lake-effect, but ppl here are at least used to dealing with it and so things run fairly smoothly. the problems come when it piles up on rooftops and they cave/leak...

some melts, as we have schizo weather, and some just gets piled up in yards as drifts...nine feet is total that fell, not total that was on the ground at any one time. so it's not bad; rather fun, actually...

we didn't get 9 feet, oswego did

Yeah and it sucks... 5 feet of snow, solid packed snow, on the ground everywhere... and another foot plus on the way tonight, upstate NY, the weather is always an adventure.

Drifts are awesome and can be absolutely gigantic and beautiful...unless they are in your driveway.

They they cancel classes at Syracuse due to the weather?

Actually today they canceled class because we supposedly got 2' in one night (I hear). I've come to adore my new boots--on sale at Macys for $17 instead of $63 weee! Waterproof AND salt doesn't stain them (can be rubbed or washed right off). Not to mention stylish, warm, easy to take on and off despite the laces, etc. One just has to wear socks or tights that cover the ankle so it doesn't chafe, which I think any high shoe would do no matter how comfy. (And believe me new students, you will be wearing tights under your pants.) (And the boots are called Denise by Naturalizer. Check them out online at Zappos and then run to your local macy's to see if they are on sale quicklike!!) (And another tip: Those hideous Ugg boots keep one warm and one's pant legs clean, but they are easily salt stained and sometimes the cleaner you can buy will discolor them somewhat.)

Classes cancelled again. Not officially, but all three of my classes today are cancelled or turned into study halls, essentially. Be prepared for wild weather if you come here. It was nice for a few days, then they predicted it would get even nicer, maybe even hit 40 for a few days. Instead we've had white out snow and -22 degree windchills spaced out with random patches of brilliant sunshine.
I know I'm usually the optomist about weather, but honestly, by this time of the season, I just want to get home to Fl.
2.5 days and counting...

haha yeah the weather is ridiculous, though i checked weather.com before and they did say it'd be 12 degrees Tue and Wed. But Th is supposed to be "warm" again!

It's not any warmer in Boston, FYI.

Syracuse is worse. My roomate's from Boston. Check wikipedia on the records Syracuse sets!

In terms of snow, Syracuse wins it, but boston can be just as cold. The snow isnt too terribly bad anyway because snow removal is AMAZING in syracuse.

Ok guys. If you're visiting today, sorry. If you're visiting next Friday, don't worry, the weather will be lovely again by then.

I know, it's April and it's cold and we're desperate for summer. But the weather really is bearable. Please don't let the snow affect your decision.
And besides, white is most definitely this campus's color. It looks gorgeous in snow.

if you're used to snow that is. I myself miss a different culture--where me and my friends are always outside exploring our city and talking to tourists. Here it's all about organizations because you always run from place to place most of the year.

Oh yes, I'm def used to tons of snow...
Coming from FLORIDA and all...
