Snowboarding at U-Wash

Are there any good snowboarding and skiing resorts relatively close to University of Washington? I just got into snowboarding these past 2 seasons and would definitely want to keep snowboarding.

I kind of want to know because I'm debating if I should buy a snowboard or not. And also, if there are nearby resorts, how do we get there? Is there any chance UW offers any buses or can you pay a short fee for the buses?

Should I just drive my car from San Francisco to Seattle..?

Yeah, just drive from San Fran. Might have to stop in Oregon overnight, unless you can bomb right on through. You can also use the car to get to the resorts.

Snowboarding wise...closest is Snoqualmie Pass about 45 mins - 1 hr East of Seattle. Just go straight on I-90.

Or you can hit up Whistler in Canada.

That sounds awesome. I'm assuming UW doesn't have a public bus or anything that takes you to the resorts? I know UCSD has a bus that takes you to Tijuana. And I'm very tempted to drive up to Seattle, especially if a friend or two of mine want to come up to UW with me. That way we can split the gas and everything.

No, I don't think the public buses here can handle the hills at Snoqualmie.

They can't even handle the hills around my neighborhood.

If I were you, I'd drive. Here's why:

1) Scenic drive. It really is pretty. (I drove up from Fremont,CA [where I lived] to Seattle and it was great)
2) You can bring more stuff that way.
3) You'll have a car at the UW so you can hit up the slopes as often as you'd like. Parking is expensive though.
4) A senior year road trip would be the perfect way to start college.

Yea, I'm considering flying for my first quarter, and than driving for the 2nd quarter after Thanksgiving Break, but I got to see.
