snowboarding vs. skiing

In light of the olympics I've decided next year I want to try one of these two sports. Which do you prefer and why? This is simply for my personal amusement and I'm not looking for advice or anything of that sort.

Snowboarding - skiis seem like you'd be more likely to trip on them. Plus, snowboarding is oh so much cooler.

snowboarding--it just looks so much more stylish to me

I like the carving motion of the snowboard; it's more fun.

most people i know say that snowboarding is far easier to pick up, so i'd say snowboarding.
since in order to gain pleasure in the two sports you ned to be at least decent, i would say snowbarding.

snowboarding 4, skiing 0
lol

skiing, just becuase i hate popular trends.

Skiing - just because I ski. =)

snowboarding. I find skiing a little to easy. I still haven't mastered the skill of 'good snowboarding' lol.
Plus skiing is boring for me..

i have a trauma with boards. (i tried the skateboards and fell flat on my face 5 seconds after i stepped on it).

i vote for skiing!

Skiing, snowboarding is thought to be "cool" by everyone, but looking at sales figures, its losing ground fast to freestyle skiing. In snowboarding there arent many tricks to do, spin and flip. In skiing there are tons and tons and tons of tricks.

Skiing is a much better sport, at least from my opinion.

What I've heard/know is that skiing is easier to learn and pick up but much harder to get better/really good at. Snowboarding is quite hard to pick up but once you can do it it's quite easy to get a lot better.

I do both, but I vastly prefer skiing. I've been skiing for about 14 years and snowboarding for about 2. I enjoy skiing much more. I happen to find it to be a better social sport than snowboarding.

Skiing. It's more versatile (ever heard of cross-country snowboard?).

i have also done both, skiing for about 12 years, snowboarding about 5, although i am going to quit snowboarding.

Snowboarding is extremely easy to pick up, especially if you have been skiing, and I think it is hard to get really good at it. Snowboarding is also much more tiring than skiing (IMO) and moguls are just ridiculous. It is also much easier to hurt yourself snowboarding, and since mountains and such were all designed with skiiers in mind, chairlifts, and getting to catwalks and stuff are really just plain annoying on a snowboard.

Skiing is great. I dont know what to say about it, since when I was learning and stuff was so long ago.

I may have also not liked snowboarding as much since when i started it, I was basically at the point in skiing where I could ski pretty much anything on the mountain (Vail, CO) and so when you have to go really cautiously down trails you're used to tearing up on your skis, it's a little frustraing.

I think skiing is far easier to pick up, but then again, skiing is also the first one I did. It's also more enjoyable, imo.

Skiing all the way! You can do much more on skis anyway

Snowboarding also rocks, but it's easier to learn how to ski.
It's a lot more enjoyable I would say. You can go far faster and safer in less time than you would while learning how to snowboard.

Jeez, I need to go skiing this year. I like snowboarding, but the feeling of being strapped down to one board is weird. You have far more control on skis than you do on a snowboard.

i have been skiing for 12 years and snowboarding for 6 years. i am fairly good at both in that i can carve down double black diamonds on skis and snowboard in a matter of seconds. i can also do grinds, airs, grabs, spins, etc. on both. i enjoy skiing more though because its "less cool"

Being from an area (Salt Lake City) where strong trends come and go between these two sports, I must say that skiing is definately back in. Freestyle skiing is the big draw now. I've also done both, and snowboarding is more physically restricting, IMO. There's a lot more opportunity on a pair of skis. However, at certain resorts (Brighton), snowboarding is really fun.

im quite skilled in both areas (really). i prefer snowboarding nowadays. nothing compares to carving in powder on a snowboard. nothing. its true that freestyle skiing is the hip trend right now, especially with the emergence of twin tips on everything. who cares about trends though. do what you like most (which should be snowboarding, if you know anything heh heh).

Skiing!! You don't waste anytime having to strap in and buckle up.

Freestyle skiing is super fun :)

^what kind of tricks can u do?
