Nothing focuses SQWs faster than picking on teenagers.
What’s the “Q” in SQW?
Status Quo
Urban Dictionary, when needed.
I thought it might be a typo for SJW
What an odd thread. “Snowflake” here on cc tends to refer to the precious, delicate offspring who some seem to think deserves special attention. Hard to shift thinking to this other meanings. But whatever. Carry on and argue away.
Some precious snowflakes in action at Swarthmore:
And a few more at Michigan:
The most vocal snowflakes these days seem to be [people who are mortally offended about others sitting during the national anthem and are also mortally enraged by “PC Culture.”](https://scontent-icn1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/14470398_1131240473657114_7829496458890912593_n.jpg?oh=05dc533061c2835fbd8ace8ba042e706&oe=5874CB5B)
One can be offended without shouting down others and inciting violence in some cases. For example, a debate club at a university…
While I don’t think the Swarthmore article was particularly well-written (too long), it’s astonishing to me that anyone got bent out of shape about it (much less wrote an editorial apology for it??). At most, there are three controversial sentences in it–stop whining*, stop bitching about rich kids, and be grateful for your opportunity to attend Swarthmore.
I’ve been told I’m thick-skinned to a fault, but what in that letter would engender such a vitriolic response (my personal favorite was the one comparing the author to Trump; that’s just plain stupidity).
*stop whining should never be controversial as it’s just good advice as most people are disinclined to listen to you complain.
Yes, there was nothing remotely objectionable about most of that letter. And nothing to get that worked up about in the rest.
As for the students who acted that strongly in response, sounds like failures by Swat admissions.
