So, for my two types of people essay, I'm describing two very general groups of people(people who take opportunities, and people who don't), but I use a kind of(okay, very) risqu

I feel that a lot of people are writing about that or similar. However, if you can make your essay stand out amongst the other 1000 essays on that topic then yes go for it!

You should probably show it to your teachers and counselors and ask for their opinion on whether the metaphor is okay.

goldysocks, what struck me in your post was your saying “this is seriously the best essay I’ve written so far.” A Chicago AdCom once told me that where students go wrong is in trying to write what they think Chicago wants instead of writing what shows who they really are.

Of course, we haven’t read it. But if you think that your essay is interesting and funny and somehow conveys who you really are, you probably aren’t the only one who would see it that way.

If you think it’s the best essay you’ve written so far, I think you should absolutely run with it.

(Also, I wouldn’t be quite so quick to run it by teachers and counselors, just because my English teacher hated the essays that absolutely made my application.)
