Other than people who have already gotten likelies( congrats!), who actually believes they will be admitted? And why? I dont think i have a chance in hell of getting in, particularly after my horrid interview :(.

i had a great interview, have a 36 act, near 800 sat II's, a perfect gpa, and great ec's. but even so, its just as much of a crapshoot for me as it is for anyone else (~7% chance). it all depends on what they're looking for this year, and of course a little bit of luck.

With regards to the interview, i wouldnt worry about it as it supposedly has very little weight.

Nope. My stats are waaaaaaay too low and the fact that I'm incredibly low-income and very strong in the areas I plan to study still hasn't swayed the two other colleges I've heard back from, so Harvard = no go. I still love the school, though, so there's always either Law or the Kennedy School of Government. :) And I'm sure the class of 2013 will be amazing regardless; I wish them well in this time of economic upheaval. They're the best of the best, after all.

For sure! My dad is on the executive committee of the COUR. And I told him to throw in an extra million this year to make up for my 1720 SAT. I know average :(

Havard has to admit about 1700 or so freshman. They do not have to admit any particular applicant.

^Exactly. I think without a likely letter it's hard to say you're for sure getting in.

Being rejected would be the easy way out, although I have a lurking feeling I might get accepted right when I finish falling in love with Columbia.

But I'm going to be rejected probably anyways :P

I also had a nice interview, good stats too. However, Harvard admissions cannot be predicted. I have seen videos on Harvard's website about people being confused about themselves being accepted there.

It's all weird, I would like to share my case with you guys: I got into Caltech EA, deferred in MIT EA, AND REJECTED at CAL POLY SLO. It's strange huh?

I think its because Cal Poly being only interested in the student's stats and not his/her complete profile.

No one has mentioned the Waitlist which can be a whole other roller -coaster ride-just warning you all-be prepared!

^^^Thanks for the warning!!!

I'm just trying to keep a postive attitude...I worked as hard as I could on my application, and my interviews went well. If I do get in, it'll be awesome. If not, it won't be a surprise or a big deal. Most people don't make it into Harvard and I'm really excited about other schools that I've already been accepted to.

It's no use going crazy over the pending decisions...and I don't think that anybody can honestly say that they think they'll get in (likely letters aside.)

Harvard admits about 2100 (last year, it was 1950 or so but after the waitlist, it was closer to 2100, which is what Harvard always aims for), not 1700.

lol, i'm just waiting for that $60 rejection letter.

lols at the value of the rejection letter... so true

I think I have a reasonable shot... URM and all, lolz.

Also, Harvard is relatively nice to our school.

(read: I will not be getting in)

I do not think I will get in because I have rather low SATs and just decent SAT IIs, but all my other stats and extracurriculars are impressive/unique IMO (but just average at Harvard of course).

I guess it depends on how my race (I am not a URM, white, or asian) plays into the college admissions. Through my app, an adcom can see I am definitely more diverse (race/experience wise) than most URMs. I guess they can sort of count me as an international applicant because 1. I live in the country of my heritage every summer,2. my first language was not English, 3. I am a citizen of that country 4. I am a first generation American.

The fact that I have gone through the political upheavals of this country (I wrote my essay about getting stuck in a war) may help my chances tremendously. Some of my extracurriculars are centered around my race/ culture as well (this includes some of my community service).

But I surely can not assume an acceptance; In comparison to all your stats, it looks like my chances are very dim. But, Harvard is a crapshoot so who knows!

On a side note, I think it is ridiculous that 25% of accepted students score below 2090 on the SAT, yet 25% score above a 2360! That means one fourth of all students have tremendously higher SAT scores than another whole fourth of the class!

25% below 2090? Wow, I got a 2080 (thanks, math). Cooooooool.

25% below 2090? thats surprising but gives me a glimmer of hope.

best way of predicting if you're going to get in:
get a twenty sided dice: roll a one, you are in. roll anything else, you aren't.

Fudge, I have to carve out a TWENTY SIDED wooden dice now???
