It has been a week since the deposit deadline,is Smith going to the wait list.I wonder if they will go to regular wait list and the Ada wait list?Any input would be great.

These things take time. They need to tabulate all the responses, which weren't due until May 2 (and you can be sure some trickled in on the following days.) Then, once they have a projected class size, they have to apply an algorithm for attrition during the summer. Then they have to add up the total financial aid budget expended, to see whether they can offer financial aid to waiting list candidates (if they are going to the waiting list at all), or have to go with "full-fare" customers. Then, they have to see if there are things in the class that are missing (like trumpets for the orchestra if two of them are graduating, etc., etc.) Then they have to rank the waiting list. Then they can't send out all the offers at once, but have to do it selectively, because not all those offered a place from the waiting list will accept it.

So it takes time!!!

(Back in the dark ages, I made it off the waiting list, to Williams, but I still remember the anxiety of the wait! Blessings to you.)

spoke to Smith today! They are going to tradtional wait list for sure.I applied for Ada Comstock Scholar program and they are still unsure if they are going to the wait list for this program. They want a class of 65 and 69 put in deposits, yet they know there is drop off rate.In some years they dropped 12 of the commited Adas. So,they are still unsure.I have been admitted to Bryn Mawr and Sarah Lawrence, but Smith is my first choice school.Part of the loop is if other schools now go to their wait list!
Thanks for your help!
