So....are we loosing the war in Iraq?

well, all I know is that Peres is better than Sharon for sure

LMAO @ Alexandre's joke.

BTW, Alexandre, could you please answer the question i left in the ECON thread in Business Major Forum?

about the lebanon invation, Israel didn't invade because of "tension" but because of actual attacks on Israeli civilians. one more thing about Sabra and Shatila, I know that Israel supported one of the groups regardless of that incident, meaning, this groups was israel's allie in the war and sharon just "let them" do as they wish (which still is very wrong!). I've heard many historians (not jews or Israeli, some arabs/muslims) who do stand to the fact that Israel lunched the war out of self defense, care to give your prespective about that? - again, it's agreed that it was "too much, too deep, for way too long".

there is one thing you said that i disagree with: I think arafat should have accepted barak's offer and get on from there, obviously i think he should have respected the Oslo agreements but that's another subject. anyways, what kind of support in the pal people are you talking about? he was the un-disputed leader... for once he could have used it for good...

oh and alex, it's Peres (with S) not with Z at the end :-)

DanC, Arafat was not the unquestioned leader of the Palestinian. He was the most recognized, but most Palestinians didn't like him. You should understand something going forward Dan, I actually do not like Palestinians. They broke into our home in Beirut in 1975 and held my family at gunpoint for several hours. Everybody in our building was massacred by those SOBs. The only reason we were not killed is because at the time, my father was a high level manager of a Jordanian Bank (Arab Bank) which actually belonged to a Palestinian man. Otherwise, we'd be dead too. So trust me when I say I have no love for Palestinians.

Now back to the point at hand...I take it you were not amused by the joke! LOL

Seriously, any peace plan Israel puts on the table must include parts of Jerusalem and land continuous to the sea. In other words, Palestinians should not have to cross border patrols to get to the sea.

I agree about Peres. He seems like a very good and honest leader. I hope he decides to run for PM.

Well, about the joke, it depends of what you claim in it LOL:
do you think that Israeli media is biased? I obviously understand you think arab media is biased LOL, or do you intend on both type of medias? anways, I know the joke already LOL!

You are totally right about Jerusalem (part of, as you said) and the connection between Gaza and west-bank. yet, the Israeli PM are triditionally careful and perfer to "take it one step at a time" - sharon is the most extreme example, barak, rabin and begin are about the oppsite. I mean, Israeli PM perffred to see that terrorism stops after Israel is pulling out from somewhere and that the PAL authority is having a good strong grip on the terror orgs, that's why they never actually paved the entire path towards the full agreement. I am very sorry to hear of what you experienced.

after many (many) posts I think that regarding the solution to the ISR-PAL issue we sort of agree of stuff (Pal land to be connected from west-bank to gaza and has parts of jerusalem).

don't you think there is nothing more beautiful than two nations sharing the same capital city?
:-)

Alex... what is your opinion about Abu-Mazen?

The media is always going to be slightly biased Dan...in some cases, like the media in Syria and Iraq, VERY biased. But the joke is a lighthearted allusion (albeint a caricature) to how our medias try to comvince their respective readers that they have been right all along!

I agree that two nations sharing one capital would indeed be great. Hopefully, the leaders of the two parties in question will make it a reality. As for Abu Mazen, I am still analyzing him. I am not sure he has the backbone necessary for the job. The Palestinians need a tighht fisted leader than can control Hamas and other militant groups. I do not think he is that man.

I agree about Abu-Mazen. I hope he'll get a hold of this terror orgs since he makes the impretion of a good partnet (but again, ALL politicians should always be second guessed).

politicians are the same the world over
