how do you appeal?

The appeal process is fairly simple. Immediately, I mean now, write a letter to Admissions. If you missed something in your application that you think will shed new light on why you should/should have been admitted in the first place now is the time to tell them. Emphasize your special qualities that make you unique. Again, tell them how much you want to be a Trojan.

And get it in their hands, walk it in (my husband did for my daughter who graduated from SC last May) to Admissions by …the middle of this week. Monday would be better.

Make sure your SC id is there btw.

^^i’m not sure if i’ll be rejected (probably will) but i live in the midwest, so if i mail my appeal to them, would that still have the same affect? i don’t go on spring break for another week…

Here are some old threads about appeals:

Do not mail it in. Spend the $25 and overnight it to them. (You will also have a signature that the appeal was received.)

BTW, I know this goes against the independance of youth but have a parent proof the appeal. And now that you know, get off this site and start writing!

^^does that really make that big of an impression on them?

Yes. In addition there is a very finite time that you have to appeal and the decisions that are made. If I recall correctly the DECISIONS on appeals were on or about the 15th or April.

Call them Monday morning. Make sure that they don’t want something new this year. (Like a social security number, include your high school counselor’s name…whatever) and be ready to cut and paste that in. Then send it off. USC will look at the appeals. But Admissions needs to know that you are committed, methodical in following through, and really ready to go the distance for admission.

No, this in no way guarantees the the appeal will succeed. But, if you want to transfer, this will aid in that process. And while the number of outright appeals that are granted is small, the transfer rate is good. Don’t you want a leg up in that process as well?

thanks a bunch ellebud!

I truly mean this: Good Luck! And you’re welcome.

I got my rejection several minutes ago and I’m thinking of appealing.
