So, Can I get anymore help?

Hi, I just recently got admission to RPI in ED I, and they gave me $15,000 a year in scholarships and $3,500 a year in unsubbed stafford loans. Even though I was ecstatic to hear that, my parents said they still couldn't pay the remaining $32,000 or so and that I'd have to do work-study (which I don't mind).

I just wanted to know if there was any other way to get more help, my family's EFC is pretty high, I don't know for sure what, but I know we entered our yearly untaxed income at $130,000 (by the way, I know this is a high amount, and I certainly realize that I was lucky to get what I got, but I just want to know If I can squeeze some more in).

I also wanted to know if it'd be likely that I win some private scholarships, my stats being:
GPA:3.61 UW 3.83 W
SAT: 2170
Class Rank: top 20%

Thanks

Our high school administered a substantial number of local, organization, faith based and a few statewide scholarships and the total dollar amount awarded was in the $300,000 range. Some were as small as a hundred dollars, the top two were in the $50,000 range. A number of the mid range scholarships were specifically geared towards solid "B" and "B+" students, or those with specific skills or talents such as music, drama, art, science or math; others may focus on community service or leadership abilities.

My D applied for the cream of the "B" scholarships, with no hope of winning, yet was selected and awarded significant ($10k+).

There are a number of union sponsored scholarships if either of your parents is a union member. Local American Legion and Veterans of Foriegn Wars posts sponsored (or did in the past) national and post specific scholarships for children or grandchildren of active post members.

You may want to check with your high school guidance department. You may be surprised as to what could be available.

Good luck.
