I know my scores and academics are pretty solid, but my extracurriculars, volunteer work, and community service are pretty weak. I'm a middle class Eurasian male going to a public school in the suburbs, so I don't really have any hook. I plan to apply ED this senior year, and my essay I'm planning to write about music in my essay, since it is my passion. Do you think I have a decent shot at this school despite my lack of extracurricular participation?

Honestly, academics account for a good 70-80% of your total consideration (according to a book I read that was actually written by an Ivy Leagues admission officer - it’s called A is for Admissions if you have time to check it out).

Your ECs are by no means terrible. You have a nice pattern of devotion towards music! And your essay will even further reflection your dedication/passion. I really think you have a very good chance of getting in, ESPECIALLY if you apply early decision.

I hope so. I just feel I havent done much for the world, and my application seems a bit selfish. There are people who devote much more time for humanitarian causes, and I’m worried my laziness would be looked at with disdain by admission officers.

i would say 80% acceptance.
nice job on the SAT and on band, played Sax!
whats urs intended major?

I actually want to double major in math and music. And thank you :)
