So...Chance my final list of schools!

I've posted on this website a lot, and it's definitely been of help. now it's that time to see what my chances are (according to you folks) on my list of schools:

UNC Chapel Hill (oos), Tufts, Cornell - Engineering (not expecting to get in), University of Virginia (oos),Lafayette, Union, Bucknell, Lehigh, UConn

ACADEMICS: (block schedule)
GPA: 3.7 (it's weighted, but only one AP class and a few honors have gone into it, most of my AP's are senior year)
AP's: 4 out of the 5 offered at my school
Physics, European History, Calc AB, Lit (4 on the exam)
SAT:
720 Math, 700 Reading
SAT II's:
awaiting scores

ATHLETICS:
Cross Country (4 years, Captain)
Track (3 Years)
Lacrosse (1 yr, 9th grade)

ACTIVITIES:
National Honors Society
Community Service Club (President)
Model UN
Student Council
Charity Triathlon
Formal Guitar Lessons for 5 yrs, Music Recording Workshops, National Guitar Workshop, etc.
Local School award for High GPA during a Varsity Sport

WORK:
- 5 Star Inn and Spa - I'm on the waitstaff in the restaurant; 16+ hrs/week during summer, little less during the school year
- Worked for my Dad's company until i was 16 and could get a job

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Some local fundraisers and banquets
Food bank
Senior center

SCHOOL PROJECT:
my school requires each senior to do a year long project. I'm recording an original instrumental cd in a studio, fundraising, and designing the cover and layout of the CD

RECCOMENDATIONS/ESSAY:
apparently they are super good, according to my guidance counselor. she's not the type to lie, so i'm confident. my essay's about MUN and diversity somewhat, but it's not cliche or lame, so i'm somewhat confident in that too
Thanks for any help!

i hope it isn’t too soon for a bumppppp

come on nowww! bumppppp

bumppppppp

Hmm I’d “guess” in at all but maybe cornell and idk about tufts i havent looked at that school or know much about it

any more adviceeeee?

bumppppppp

nothing?! come onnn nowww!

I honestly don’t know a ton about those schools, so I can’t rank you per college. However, I will say this: your application is incredibly well-rounded (colleges LOVE work experience BTW), but nothing really “pops,” if you know what I mean. Like, you’re applying to Cornell’s engineering program, but nothing on your app screams, or even whispers, that you have an interest in engineering other than that I’m sure you went through honors math and science all four years with As and A+s. I’m not sure if this was helpful at all, but just me two cents.

well thank you, and yes i hoped the work experience thing would pay off eventually. and I’ve actually decided against Cornell, as I think it’s too much of a reach. I’m pretty sure I want to apply ED to tufts engineering. They have a january 3rd second round ED. so does this bring my chances up?

The out of state publics aren’t going to offer you much, if any, financial aid. So the question is- are they significantly better than your in-state flagship? Because you would be paying a heck of alot of money extra to go to a comparable school. Look up UConn’s engineering dept compared to UVA and UNC.

Tufts is definitely reachy for you. For a comparable school that has an excellent reputation, but more of a fit given your scores- look at University of Rochester. Also, Case Western, they are known for generous merit aid.

see i’ve heard that those state schools give 100% of your demonstrated need…maybe that’s just for instate? hopefully not!
but thank you, will tufts be a little more attainable by applying ED?

bumppity bump bump
