So close, but not quite enough.

I just came back from a mock trial match where my team lost by one point! It's pretty awesome that we were so close, but at the same time, it's a little exasperating because we were sooo close. But I guess I'd rather it this way because that means we're a good team.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

oooh, congrats!! :D

my freshman year, i competed in a computer programming competition. there were ~10 teams & mine came in last; the second-to-last team got more than twice our score (out of an optimal 100). that’s not similar at all… just a good story, IMO.

I was one place away from competing in a state competition from BPA. I thought we had to make it to third, so I managed to do that. To my surprise, it was second. Uhg. Let’s see if I can reverse that this weekend.

Last year at the Science Bowl my team won two matches against Armenian schools at the last second before being blasted by mighty El Camino Real. They insisted on shaking our hands afterwords too.

I was at an indoor national track meet and I was a hundredth of a second from making it to the finals in the hurdles and this other time I was running the 200 meter hurdles and I would have qualified for the junior olympics and this other time I was 6 hundredth of a second away from making it to state

I was on MacGyver. I was locked in a coffin with my hands gorilla taped. My only supplies were the 300 yards of manilla rope in my pocket, a rotary saw, an outlet, and a macbook. So I downloaded vista, and it crashed right when I was looking up how to use a rotary saw to cut through a coffin and scale 150 feet out a window with rope. So close!

I won the pokemon competition last week.

$20

Not really.

We won our track meet today. 1-2-3 finish in all running events except the 1600, which was a 2-3 finish. I beat my winter PR for the 200 (so proud of myself).

Science Olympiad. 0.75 points away from being 1st in my event. Meh.

HAHAHA, at AeroEngineer3141’s post.

That’s like how I lost the election for Model UN president because my best friend voted for the opposing girl because she assumed that I would be president for the 3rd year in a row and no one would vote for the other girl.

…I lost by 2 votes.
