So college is a month away and I'm scared out of my guts.

Am I the only one? Is this normal? Why am I not uber doped and excited like everyone else?

Nope. Yeah, it is. A lot of people are genuinely excited about college, but I’m sure a large percentage of those saying that can’t wait for it are just as nervous as you are, but just don’t want to show it. Relax. You will be fine.

Freshman year I went to a school out of state where not one other kid from my county went to. I was very anxious to say the least. Im a little bit for this semester but more excited than anything

College is a big change. These 4 years of your life will probably develop you as an adult more than any years in your life. After only 1 year Ive changed alot

my advice. Nothing is wrong with you. Its normal. The first couple of weeks everyone is new to each other. This is the best time to man up and befriend as many people as possible because if you dont do anything and sit on your hands you will regret it. Join some clubs, play some intramural teams, and just be as social as possible.

Is school not 12 days away?

Im guessing he goes to a quarters school. They dont start til mid to late september

I’ve told this story on here before, but I was so severely anxious about starting school that I insisted no one say my college’s actual name and refer to it only as “hogwarts,” which I found to be less stressful, and even went so far as to refer to my orientation as “the sorting.” I was really that neurotic. lol. Lots of people get scared before they go. Try to channel that energy into something you are looking forward to, you’ll settle down almost immediately when you get to school.

I’m getting the jitters lol. there are times where i’m totally pumped and can’t wait to leave home, but then there are some times where i feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it. once i move in and get settled i’ll feel much better about it :D

^this is like me.

I don’t know about too soon after move in, but I’m guessing a few weeks (or a little less) in should be fine.
I went to the airport to see a friend off last night and it scared me a little. I dunno, it’s weird. Some days I wake up and I’m excited to meet new people and move into my new room and start new classes and some days I’m terrified and I wish I was staying home.

The biggest thing is not having all my friends and family there, I think. Not sooo much the new classes and place and stuff.

I’m moving in early tomorrow and I’m very excited. The only thing is I got poison oak from camping last week and its all over my arms. Ive got a bad start already. I hope it’s not an omen for what’s to come.

this is me. i’m even sick to my stomach right now

advice like this gets me sick to my stomach.

^ everyone else is in the same boat. relax, it’s going to be fine.
my advice would just be to go with the flow at the start, but don’t turn down offers to do stuff with someone. those are the best ways to scope out future friends.

you’ll live, i promise.

You wouldn’t want to deal with what i’m dealing with at the moment. I move back in on friday, i have $288 left to pay for this semester by the 9th, and i have to figure out a way to pay my mother back…

I wasn’t nervous my freshman year, probably mostly because I wasn’t going too far away from home. This year, going into my senior year, I’m nervous for sure. Even seniors get nerves. =)

Aww :frowning: are you going far away? I’m gonna be close to home and i’m STILL nervous. i don’t think it’s healthy lol.

It depends on how close to home, and even so, most of your friends could be going further away. It’s a perfectly understandable reaction.

And trumpet, you’ll make plenty of new friends who will be there for you at school. =)

I’m flying across continents to get to the states all alone. I’ll reach about 3 days earlier than the orientation day so I’ll be in a foreign country all by myself for those 3 days. Sounds exciting, no? :)

Rai, where will you be in school?

Rai, i’m very nervous about flying to the states to college! i’m in a mix of freaking out, nervous, scared and excited. Safe to say, i’m on denial.

Mely, I’m sure you have nothing to worry about. =) You’ll probably make plenty of friends in no time. I would much rather just be starting college (neglecting the fact that tuition rates have gone way up) than leaving it!

i guess if everyone is feeling the same way, it won’t be so bad :):)
