So conflicted.

I got into Yale SCEA, but I just got a likely letter today for UNC and another letter informing me I'm a finalist for merit scholarships (which can range up to a full ride) and should come to an interview day in late January.

Assuming I get a lot of money at UNC (it's a pretty big assumption, I know, but just bear with me), how can I justify spending $45K a year on Yale? Yale is my dream school and it's been my first choice as long as I can remember.

AHH WHAT SHOULD I DO. Is it worth spending all that money?

(Double posted to the main Yale and UNC forums)

UNC gives likely letters? Anyway,

1). Wait for all offers to come in.
2). Can your family afford Yale (w/ financial aid package, if applicable)? Comfortably? Just barely?
3). Do you like the other school? Would you be happy there?
4). If you can, visit both schools (again).
5). What are your academic interests and where would they be better developed?

I'm sure there are many more things I could have listed, but what I'm getting at is: wait, then consider everything and decide.

Wait until April to make your decision. I'm kind of in the same boat, minus the already-got-in status for Yale (got deferred), but I'm sure I'll at least get into a couple of my OOS choices. Chances are, however, that I end up going to UF because I can get a full ride there. They have an amazing honors college, and the only major downside for me other than that it isn't Yale (or other OOS's) is that I can't swim there. Graduating from UF Honors College I don't think will look too bad for when I apply to medical school, so I might end up going there.

I'm sure that UNC would be a lot of fun to go to anyways. A lot of my friends already go to UF, and with its amazing DI athletics and great college atmosphere, I'm sure I would have a lot of fun there if I end up going. Too bad I like Ohio State for right now though. GO BUCKEYES!!!

you'll get financial aid from Yale. I turned down a bunch of athletic scholarships to go to Yale and I've never regretted it. You won't either. You'll be at UNC explaining that you "got in to Yale." and explaining your choice not to go.

I'm sure UNC is fantastic, but make sure you visit both places, Yale's pretty fantastic too :)

Hey guys,

I have managed to get through two Universities-Yale and Stanford for their respective undergraduate programs. I am damn confused between the two--

I wish to pursue Economics at the Undergraduate Level and then join a B-School for a MBA degree. Which place is better suited for me?

I have been told that Stanford does not have an undergraduate college whereas Yale has one-Yale College. Will this make any difference. I am also told that Law at Yale rocks. But I know nothing about Economics at Yale or Stanford. Please help me out. Locations are NOT an issue for m. I am not concerned about financial aid either. I want to go to a place where I will get a better overall undergraduate experience- academics, extra-curricular, et al.
Where should I be- Yale or Stanford ? (Ultimately I WANT to do an MBA)Replies will be appreciated- It will frame my career guys!
