I am currently a student at UTA and had just completed my first year there. I am still undeclared but planning to transfer to Mccombs after sophomore year, I heard it's highly competitive and if I transfer externally it would be much more difficult to get in. Thus, I am thinking maybe i should do internal transfer..the prerequistes to apply to mccombs are cal 1&2, microecon & macroecon. I haven't taken any Calc yet, and i still need microecon. i am planning to take Calc 1 & microecon in fall 2011, do you guys think i should go ahead and apply to UT Austin as a UNDECLARED major after 1 semester,? (when i have Calc 1µecon done, but not Calc 2 yet, and if i got in, then i will finish up Calc 2 at UT austin) ? my attempt to that is so i can at least be a student at UT Austin one semester prior to applying to mccombs so i will be considered an internal transfer to mccombs? don't know if i am thinking the right way so Please help!!:(

I was recently admitted for the Fall as an external transfer for McCombs. Seeing as how they only accept transfers for the fall, you should just apply and see what happens. What’s your GPA right now? If after the first semester of micro and Cal 1, you have a 3.8+ you should list McCombs as your first choice.

Hey JammyD thanks for the quick reply,
my GPA is 3.889 right now, and I have all As’ except a B in Biology…(i took some other nursing classes too, that was what i wanted to do before)
congrats on your admission! Do you mind telling me what your GPA is and some other things that i need to do next semester to prepare for it? i heard external transfer is extremely competitive so…yea…
you’re right they only admit people in fall…so you think i should stay one more year at UTA and apply for fall 2012? I don’t think there is any point for me to apply for spring 2011 as undeclared, get into UT Austin and try to be an internal transfer to mccombs the next fall, because see, they want me to have 24-hour in residency at UT Austin in order to be an internal transfer when i want to apply in the following fall, but how could i finish 24-hour in one spring sem?? i hope you get what i mean…thanks!
