<p>People generally advise against it because it’s a topic that comes up often. Consequently, they tend to sound similar. But if you can write something very… unique, go for it.</p>

<p>i agree with the above posters. i also read something recently talking about death as an essay topic. the author of the book i was reading said that unless you had moved on to a point where you could talk about the death of your father without making it maudlin or weepy, you shouldn’t write about it.</p>
