SO... decisions are up...

without a doubt gpa and essays were the keys for ucla admissions

I being one of the "less qualified" people am amazed at the stats of the people who got rejected from my schoool....they r goin to hate me now...

rejected...well i still have uci and nyu...but lets wait on the others...but dude..if i got rejected at ucla, then what are my chances at ucsd and ucb...i should just give up...

idylliwindll...dont give up on UCSD or UCB. Even if you dont get into those univerisities...YOU STILL GOT INTO UCI AND NYU!!!!! which are two EXCELLENT universities....that is a great accomplishment! I wish you the best during this college process.

Actually, it is easier to get into UCSD than UCLA.

And, ive known several people who were rejected from UCLA but got into UCB.

SO don't give up yet.

haha..thanks caliplaya. sigh...its no use moping around...i need to keep myself busy to keep my mind off of these things. ahh...but ucsd is like right around the corner and ucb is coming up so soon...

and congrats on getting into ucla!! you're hard work has paid off!!! :D

rejected. boo hoo 2180 sat 3.7UC gpa

Thanks idylliwindll, with that attitude you will be successful at ANY university you attend

how the f*** did i get accepted:
3.86 Weighted
2100
800/710

some ppl deserve it more than i do....whatever

accepted

major: aerospace engineering
got early engineering letter
ELC
~4.2 UCGPA
2170 SAT
790 math IIC, mediocre other SATIIs
pretty good recs
pretty good statements
actively involved in student gov't, stuff
trip to china with board of education
nhs president
ap scholar w/ distinction
didnt hear from uci yet, weird.
regents scholar for ucr
waiting for a bunch of other schools

to those who didnt get in: not getting into ucla isnt the end of the world! there are plenty of great schools out there that'll probably die to get smart and studious people like you on these forums. and plus, just think that ucla'll have to do without you :D

good luck, y'all.

I got Rej'd.
3.86uw 4.11w
1970 SAT I

Accepted

4.15 W, ~3.7 UW (strong upward trend junior year)
2310 SAT
SAT IIs: US History 800, Bio E 780, World History 770

In looking at just the stats of CC posters who got rejected/accepted, I'm just amazed. It really does appear that UCLA makes the most random, arbitrary decisions.. I'm seeing so many rejection's, and when I look at their stats I think " this person should have gotten in over that person in a snap" but I'm wrong.. I don't understand... i guess it is just a lottery system

lovelines:

Honors cut off is 4.1 capped GPA AND SAT 2080
I'm in the same boat: No Honors, Economics.
I made the GPA cut (4.25 capped),
but my SAT best sitting barely made 2000 =:(

ACCEPTED

In-state

3.68 GPA (UC)
SAT: 750 m 560 Cr 670 Writing (11 essay)

O_O

Well. I was rejected.

3.94 GPA
2190 SAT
790/770
I thought I had excellent essays, but huh, I guess not good enough for UCLA.

Aaaa.
I dont know what to say.

How the heck did they make decisions?

I mean... looking at people who were rejected...

like the person above me...

:(

My stats are:

4.38 uc gpa
ELC
ACT 32
SAT IIs 740/610

I'm just surprised I got in. It appears that ELC plays a HUGE role this year...

I'm sorry to all those applicant who were amazing and did not get in. I know how hard we've all worked. I'm sure you will all get into great schools.

rejected :(

here are my stats:
4.0 uc gpa
1910 (720m, 660w, 530r)
720m2c, 760 french
great essays
good leadership and ec;s
several awards
cali resident
applied for comp engineering

i know my stats arent spectacular but if i had applied for an easier major or undecided do u think my chances would have increased?

I think major has a huge thing to do with it.

Its hard to get into the science majors at UCLA.

And I think that can really be the only explanation for why top applicants didn't get in.

They probably applied to an impacted major where the competition was insane.

^ahh! i didnt think majors were THAT important in admission decisions.

bonks head I put undeclared-L&S (science) major down.

And I also wasn't ELC.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I was too in-state.
