So.... Decisions?

Any NMF/NMSF made their decisions yet? Was it based on scholarships? What scholarships did you get?

I'm going to U of Arizona next year on a $30K/yr NMF scholarship. It's a full ride when the need-based grants are added. I'm so excited!

D1 will be attending U of Minnesota-Twin Cities. $11K per year NMF money combined with a combination of other university-wide merit scholarships put their package near full-ride. She’s thrilled and ready to go today!!

U of A?!?! That’s awesome!!! I live in Tucson so I’ve practically grown up at the U of A. In fact I’m wearing a U of A sweatshirt and T-shirt right now! : )

I know it’s a bit early for me because I’m a Junior, but I’m going to send my PSAT scores to the University of Arizona in the hopes of a scholarship. : )

Good luck! They have quite a few scholarships available for incoming freshman. Just keep working hard! And IMO, junior year is NOT too early to be interested in a college. Obsessed, maybe, but not interested.

I know I’m guaranteed to be accepted at the U of A with partial tuition free and I’m definitely eligible for other scholarships because I’m in state. I’m focusing on two universities right now: Stanford University and the University of Arizona. Stanford is my dream school but I’m definitely content and will be happy at the U of A.

My daughter is going to the University of Oklahoma with the NMF scholarship. She decided at the last minute as she wasn’t happy with her other option. She didn’t even apply until March 1! Now she can hardly wait!

Stanford was my dream school too. Unfortunately, I didn’t get in… I’m not exactly sure why… They say they had a record number of applicants. Anyways, at least I know that UA wants me. You know what I mean?

Can someone tell me how to switch the top choice college for National Merit? Thanks.

If you still have the yellow postcard that came with your semifinalist packet, just fill that out and either fax it to them or mail it in. Otherwise, I think you can print the same thing out from their website and either fax it to them or mail it in. Better do it soon!

University of Oklahoma with the NMF scholarship for me as well. I loved the school when I visited and can’t wait until the fall!

My son is going to Fordham on a full tuition scholarship, based largely on National Merit.

We visited OU too in January and loved the campus and the people but my son decided on his dream school, USC who gives half tuition scholarships to NMF.

I’m turning down H and Y for Baylor full tuition plus 9k and a work study to cover my costs. It seems like a great fit for me and it is a gorgeous campus. They have my major, take all of my transfer/AP credit and have a very strong Honors program. I plan to spend a full year abroad (a semester at Oxford) with my scholarship! Best of luck to everyone and congrats to all for all of the hardwork!

I’m attending Northeastern University this fall on a full tuition NMF scholarship! : D pretty excited(:

Being a NMF did not influence my choice of schools. Only one school I applied to(Hillsdale) participated in National Merit program. I will be attending the University of Notre Dame. So we will be paying 100% of the cost of the school. The participating schools just did not appeal to me.

MIT
decision not really based on scholarships - i just really love the school and have for awhile. but, i did get a small NM award.

D. will be attending Amherst College, turning down many generous merit and NM scholarships elsewhere.

S. will be attending University of Vermont, full tuition for 4 years.

I’m heading to Yale. The only school that I applied to that gave me a scholarship for National Merit was WashU (and I guess GA tech if they had known), but Yale was still a much cheaper option despite it. And I still have the $2500 to cover most of my self-help.

I’m heading to Villanova University $2500 merit-participated scholarship… $28K scholarship overall…doesnt offer the best aid, but was my #2 choice, behind Georgetown.
